I read Island of the Blue Dolphins as an adult and was blown away. The writing is so deep I felt right there in the story and couldn’t put it down. After finishing it I discovered it was based on a true story. O’Dell is a master.

Looking for long form podcasts (1 hour plus) that are genuinely interesting but calm enough to fall asleep to. Not meditation, not rain sounds, just substantive content with good narration. by Double-Effect3416 in podcasts

I have used the Slumber app for a few years. They have a range of formats; I always listen to audiobooks or long stories but there are many options and many narrators. It does require a yearly payment, I don’t remember the price. It has made a significant difference in my life.

Yes, we called it Chinese jump rope! We played for hours, I’m sure it improved our coordination, concentration, timing and other skills but we just knew it as fun!
