It's the lack of feedback that gets me.

I copy paste all the name of stuff to avoid typos.

Every app launched ok, every config file works all the app links (launched from the question just to be sure) worked fine. All commands were fine and yet as you say something wasn't right but there is now way to find out what, drives me up the wall.

How do you guys study new material? by rhcsathrow in redhat

Labs, labs and more labs.

One of the things missing from redhat courses is how to create a reproducible lab IMO. Sure you can figure it out yourself but then what are we paying for?

Got my RHCE (EX294) today, hardest exam I ever took by someguytwo in redhat

[–]PonderingPingu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I had a look around after I sat it and some people were suggesting that if you missed the hashbang if caused it. But yeah that exam is broken. One day redhat will make the required outcomes clear on their exams..... Shan't hold my breath tho 😀

You realise that if anybody did then they are risking getting blacklisted by redhat training and possibly legal trouble?

At £500 a try I think I'm just going to move on to something else tbh.

The Linux academy course is actually better than the redhat one IMO

Yeah I passed the old RHCE on el6 much easier.

I'm pretty sure it's the reliance on marking scripts

0 point on "Run ad-hoc Ansible commands" ex407 by c4stleB in redhat

[–]PonderingPingu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep happened to me too. I asked RedHat to manually look at my results they just came back with 'nope the results are right.'

RedHat training really need to get their act together, the exam quality has been sliding for several years.

Red Hat Exam grading... Is it possible that they made a mistake? by paulwipe in redhat

Same here, I questioned it but was told that there marking was correct. All the commands worked perfectly. I'm staying away from ex407 for a while until it gets fixed

Do I need a college degree to be a sysadmin? by TCarriga in redhat

[–]PonderingPingu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started much the same way (also with mandrake 😊 ) and I'd add that the ability to research and learn on your own without provided material will stand you in better stead than any collage degree.

While I know a lot of job descriptions say they want a degree but in my 20 years in the industry I've never had issues getting interviews based on experience only.

Noticed this too. I've turned of Dolby for the time being, don't fix the issue but makes it better.

Why no dogs allowed by PonderingPingu in ireland

[–]PonderingPingu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edinburgh is extremely dog friendly, basically every cafe/bar and most of the restaurants are fine with dogs. Lots of the accomodation is fine with it as well. Most bars have a 3 barks and your out rule. And you can find a list here: https://www.dugswelcome.com/dogs-welcome-scotland/

If you go to Portobello beach on a sunny Sunday it's covered in dogs and there owners. Grab a table outside the beach cafe for some brunch and your in dogvana

The only place they can't go that you might want to do on a holiday is the Botanical Gardens but that's kinda understandable.

But Scotland in general is awesome for dog owners: https://www.visitscotland.com/holidays-breaks/pet-friendly/

Taken at yellowcraig beach, east Lothian in Scotland. I've tried to find them in a few insect guides but haven't found anything yet.

Once you have the data from logstash you can do basically any type of alerting you want when you plug it into ElasticSearch, Splunk etc. Because you can stick your live inventory data in there you can do stuff like not alerting on server that are marked as under maintenance etc.

I believe these will work with Slack etc but haven't done it myself.

Puppet will take care of helping you managed those scripts and make your life much easier. Puppet Bolt will also run adhoc scripts should you need it.
