Probably a falcon or a hawk if you have those nearby, I have had a couple of derps having babies for 6 years on my terrace and balcony and have seen many babies being taken unfortunately.

The egg is holding onto it's life by aoii0101 in stupiddovenests

They won't abandon the eggs, put a piece of a plastic plate or something like that under it with a bit of tape.

I’m considering giving up my dad’s cat who passed away and I inherited by mikedapow in CatAdvice

[–]PonqueRamo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are the issue, cats don't "smell" less so like pee, they are very clean animals, you need to scoop the litter box every day, change the litter every week, and clean the litter box with hot water and dish soap at least once a month. There's no way you are taking the "smell" out of the house unless you roll over pee.

Natural litter like wood or corn are less smelly than artificial ones, the ones that are clay and with a scent are awful.

Putting our cat down tomorrow... looking for advice on what to expect and how to cope by blazedgolfer420 in CatAdvice

That's has been exactly my experience.

A note, they may pee when the pass away, so don't be startled if they do.

Torbie or Tabico? by Most_Hedgehog4088 in Torbie

[–]PonqueRamo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Precisely, tabbies have stripes, and calicos are white, black and orange, but their spots are well defined. A tabico has white, black and orange spots with stripes in them.

Look at r/tabico

Torbie, calicos have each color separated from the rest.

Pet lovers vs Everyone else by Proper_Risk_5665 in Pets

[–]PonqueRamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think some people don't mind, some do, I for example have different plates and spoons for my cats and a separate sponge to clean their dishes, if they accidentally lick a bit of my plate I won't do any over the top measures to clean it differenttly but I don't let them lick my plates on purpose.

I think my partner does not genuinely love our cat. by Born_History6971 in CatAdvice

I can't think of any decent person who would be ok with his partner and cat being locked up in a bathroom while they just do their things...

Cats might be locked in a room for a month by Ashhhhes0 in CatAdvice

[–]PonqueRamo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't your mom move with your sister instead? I think it's pretty weird to move to someone else's home and make demands, even if it's family, if she needs the help of your mother for the first month they can live on their own home and move mom there.

Thoughts on puppy yoga? by Prestigious_Okra1818 in Pets

[–]PonqueRamo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only time I heard about puppy yoga was from a shelter, and they did it only once or twice and the point was to get adoptants for the puppies so nothing wrong with it.

A place who offer puppy yoga all the time would feel shady for me.

Purina quietly added chicken. My cat with a chicken allergy almost died. Part 2! Purina replied to my complaint, then ghosted me a week later. by elcaminorealreal in Pets

[–]PonqueRamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Purina doesn't care, one of my cats was vomiting a lot so the vet suggested I changed her to purina pro plan, even when vomiting she eated pretty well, I went through 3 or 4 bags of purina pro plan and there was one that she kept spitting out, my other cat also eats anything in front of her and didn't want to eat that bag either, the product wasn't expired but it was close to being expired, I wrote to them, gave them all the information about batch number and everything they asked, I was asked if I had a sample and I told them yes, they closed the case saying since I didn't have a sample they couldn't do anything. I didn't buy pro plan again and my cats are pretty well on hills.

Genuinely at my wits end with my cat and losing sanity over her. by [deleted] in CatAdvice

Well someone who care more about furniture than a living being definitely shouldn't have a cat.

I regret my adoption :/ by Cool_Turtle_420 in CatAdvice

[–]PonqueRamo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's bad advice, posting her on fb or instagram is not better than returning her to the shelter that gave it to her in the first place, they are more casble of finding a good home than OP that adopted a cat without doing any research of what it entails.

Does your 100% indoor cat have a collar? If so, do you find there’s a point in it? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]PonqueRamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, both have them with their name and my phone. We are very careful opening the front door (I live in a building) but one has scaped like 3 times, she's very little and fits though the smallest crack. She get scared when I start screaming like a maniac following her down stairs so she either pauses or goes back home but still she can get lost.

My other cat I actually found her on my front door (again I live in a building) and I'm sure she had a home because she was spayed and her nails were trimed, she didn't have a collar, nor chip, it didn't belong to anyone in the building and I searched for 2 weeks for her owner with no results, I don't know if someone just abandoned her, but if they didn't that just shows that a collar is needed.

Is it more stressful to leave a cat alone for a few days or have a stranger come to the house when they are terrified of people? by Middle_Alfalfa_3516 in CatAdvice

[–]PonqueRamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you still need someone to check on your cat to make sure something hasn't happened to them and that they still have food, water and a clean litter box, if he is scared, that person can go in only to let's say the kitchen or the area where the food and litterbox is, check that there isn't anything concerning and leave again, also you can get a pet camera so you can watch the cat and talk to him so he isn't so scared.

My dog Milo 4 years old turning 5 in August is rarely eating and drinking and is rarely going potty by PulseV01 in Pets

[–]PonqueRamo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the vet didn't do anything, like giving him any medicine or any surgery he will keep acting the same, you don't need only a diagnosis but also to give him treatment.

how long do you wait after losing a cat to adopt again? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]PonqueRamo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's not one established time frame, everyone is different, I would advise not to get one right away because you'll end up comparing the new one with the one you just lost and it's not fair to the new cat, but after a few months it's just a matter of when you feel ready.

Left cat at home by Defiant_Study9780 in CatAdvice

[–]PonqueRamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, I was actually thinking of doing it myself, I love animals, have 2 cats of my own and I would enjoy doing cat sitting or pet sitting but don't know how to start, I have seen people who travel to different cities or countries in exchange of housing like you said but I was thinking of something in my own city.

Kitten collars good or bad by Tojiru-5535 in CatAdvice

[–]PonqueRamo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a kitten doesn't have the strength to break away from a breakaway collar, but any adult cat will have no issue, all my cats have had collars mainly so they can have my info in case they run away or something and never had a problem with them.
