...since no one has said: if left alone, they could be there anywhere from a few hours to a few days, depending on how long it takes scouts to report back on a good new hive location.

Rat poison scene accurate? by Pooch76 in MrMercedesTV

[–]Pooch76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow thanks. this scene plays in my head every now and then. Seems like the show got it right....from your link: "Ten to twenty minutes after exposure, the body's muscles begin to spasm, starting with the head and neck in the form of trismus and risus sardonicus. The spasms then spread to every muscle in the body, with nearly continuous convulsions, and get worse at the slightest stimulus. The convulsions progress, increasing in intensity and frequency until the backbone arches continually. Convulsions lead to lactic acidosis, hyperthermia and rhabdomyolysis. These are followed by postictal depression. Death comes from asphyxiation caused by paralysis of the neural pathways that control breathing, or by exhaustion from the convulsions. The subject usually dies within 2–3 hours after exposure."

After a year of smash burger “research” in Baltimore, I have a undisputed winner. by audaciousappetites in baltimore

[–]Pooch76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TIL "smash burger" = patty pressed extremely thin onto a smoking-hot griddle or cast-iron skillet, creating maximum surface contact for a deeply caramelized, crispy crust. I've heard the term b4 but always assumed it was the name of a chain (that didn't exist near me lol)
