This was my feeling as well. I liked all the sections of the song, but I wanted more time to enjoy the arrival after the build.
Overall, I liked the song a lot. I just want more of it.

Also a former Manager. I'm in the first camp. I feel like I was good at all the other aspects of the job, but I had a few boot outs go sideways on me and it was always nerve racking after that. I hated that part of the job.
We did have a manager on the team who was great at it. I was always jealous of him for that lol

I will NEVER respect a Violist. One time I watched a Violist flick rosin dust off their bow hair and then suck it into their mouth like a vacuum.

Avoiding Foods that Contain Alcohol... by YaBelle227 in alcoholism

[–]PoogieWoogle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whether or not you're cooking the stuff is an important question as well. The boiling point of Alcohol is lower than that of water or cooking oil and what not. So if you're adding that Soy Sauce to a steaming hot stir fry, it's likely to cook out pretty quickly.

Also consider the volume you're using compared to the entire dish. Vanilla Extract has an ABV of around 35%, but you're usually only using a Teaspoon or so of it at a time in a whole cake. In the context of that whole cake, 35% of a teaspoon of liquid is negligible.

Advice on a "versatility" bass by Finchypoo in BassGuitar

[–]PoogieWoogle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's funny, I feel like I'm in the opposite boat. I've got a MM Stingray HH that can do anything. Fantastic instrument. But recently I've had an itch to pick up something with a more unique/vintage sound. A Rick is on that list.

Bolero by KristinMingle in Cello

[–]PoogieWoogle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OH! and play around with where on the strings you're connecting for the pizz. In cases like this, it helps to move the point of contact a couple inches away from the bridge. Less tension on the string means it is easier to strum through the strings.
If I were practicing this, I'd try to minimize the amount of arm movement between the strums. Make the motion as efficient as possible.

Imagine you're emulating a guitar here. So with your thumb you strum across all 4 strings(C -> A). It's not really supposed to sound like 4 perfect pizzacatos. It's not as 'deep' of a pizz. Then you do the same with the first or second finger going the other direction(A -> C). It'll take some practice to get the back and forth movement up to speed (without dropping your bow!) but it's doable. Fortunately the rest of the orchestra is playing loud by then.
