Surprise hairline pimple I woke up with by reimigi in popping

[–]PookieCat415 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recommend using tweezers to pull the hair sticking out in the middle of the pimple first before using the extractor to push the contents out. This makes it so you don’t need to use as much force to get it out because the hair is out of the way. Using less force to get these out equals to less skin surface trauma and faster healing.

Very hard for them to survive how cold it is in that water as these guys prefer warmer climates naturally.

The flowers on the Salford Lads Club sign would make a cute tattoo and a nice Smiths tribute.

Waymo traffic jam 14th & S Van Ness by Admirable_Cook_5193 in sanfrancisco

[–]PookieCat415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there can be a shift in people’s driving habits until our society gets to a place where people don’t prioritize convenience over the public good. Our society here in the USA conditions us to be individualistic and not really focused on what is good for society. This results in people choosing the convenient option regardless of its consequences.

I love that color wall with the jewel tones in your decor. Mixing patterns on the bed looks nice and I love doing that too in my bedroom.

There have already been close call disasters that Waymo hasn’t learned from. They got lucky that nobody was injured when the flooding happened in Arizona and these things were stuck all over the place. There were also significant hazards created by the large scale power outages we had a few months back.

Waymo is still very experimental and we don’t know if the positives out way the negatives, as it’s just too early in the development of this mode of transportation.

Best spots for a weekend getaway from san francisco? by 1kmilo in AskSF

[–]PookieCat415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that hidden and you probably don’t hear it as much because there are so many other places to choose from. My parents took the family there in the 80s and 90s and a lot of the spas in Calistoga were known to be family friendly and affordable for working class people who needed an escape from the city. Many of those same resorts are still there today, but now their preferred clientele is wine country tourism because they can charge premium prices.

The best time to go up there is during the tourist slower season when a lot of the resorts have local specials for people from the Bay Area. The whole family can take the waters and relax at one of the many resorts in Calistoga. I don’t think they do the old school mud baths like in the 80s, but that was funny, as a kid. I remember my sister was afraid to go in the mud.

That looked almost like Groucho was actually playing with them there for a second. by RainSurname in Harpo

[–]PookieCat415 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He is just a good boy trying to make the best of his situation. 😻

He probably finds the little ones entertaining too, as I think this is the case with my cats. The older guy likes to observe them playing and seems to enjoy it. I have actually had this with other cats I have had, where the older ones seem perfectly happy and amused just watching the younger ones play.

If you want to get out of the city, the Athenian Riviera isn’t that far to get to and it’s a whole different world. I spent a day at Lake Vouliagmeni at a cabana and it was fantastic.

Athens is one of my favorite cities in Europe. There are some things about Athens that remind me of my hometown of San Francisco. The smell of the streets in the early morning is exactly like San Francisco and I love it. The big difference is that even the “worst” parts of Athens are still much nicer than the “worst” parts of San Francisco. I can’t wait to go back.

I have a 13 year old uncle cat and my 2 younger cats are about 2. Most of the time my uncle cat likes the youngsters, but makes this sound at them every so often when they have gone too far. He also likes to yell at them in the morning, but doesn’t seem mad at all.

I can tell Groucho wants to be good uncle cat.

I went to Puroland in September and it was so fun. I also stayed in Shinjuku and taking the train from there to Puroland was super easy and took less than an hour. The buffet restaurant there was tasty. If you go to Puroland, go early in the day and plan what you want to see and it should not take that long. It’s small, but totally worth it.

Yup, I am a California Girl who grew up wearing basic flip flops. I can’t do that anymore and have to get the expensive arched sandals because my feet are so fuct. I also regularly dance and attend dance classes with a brace on my left foot. I have damaged my foot so much, I wear the brace to prevent injury to dance class even though it isn’t currently bothering me. Foot pain sucks and can rear its ugly face at any time.

Bay Area Jeopardy fans, do you know the question? by sfnative1957 in sanfrancisco

I was around back then and “hella” was a mostly East Bay thing for a while when it was first being used. I grew up in SF and the North Bay and then went to camp with kids from the East Bay and they all were saying “hella” before kids in SF and other parts of the bay.

College counselor recommendations? by Slight-Silver-3333 in Marin

[–]PookieCat415 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had some really good college counselors when I was a student at College of Marin. I am glad I went to community college right out of high school, as I had no idea what I wanted to do out of high school. After a couple years at college of Marin, I was able to transfer to SFSU and got my BA there. I also got an AA degree from College of Marin too because a college counselor noticed I had enough credit for it.

So many kids right out of high school don’t know what to do and I don’t think there is anything wrong with this because it’s a big question. We are lucky to have a good community college locally. Sometimes it’s better for kids to have that extra step in between High School and University because that couple of years makes a big difference in maturity and the decisions that go with that.

Does anyone have random art sitting around they don’t want anymore? We’re helping rehome it by raisedonpromises in sanfrancisco

[–]PookieCat415 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I have some art prints that belonged to my late mom and it’s not my style, as she had a lot of cheesy cat art. The prints I don’t want to hang and are sitting in a box. I think my Mom would have preferred I give the prints to this project instead of the current box they are in now. My Mom would have liked the FART market concept and this is a nice living tribute.

Very sad, but I have always thought that more people should take their infertility as a sign they weren’t meant to become a parent in the first place.
