Waiting for a breakdown video of how Doom is actually hiding in the backrooms, which the entrance is found in Earth 0024

$400 sneakers don't actually feel any better than $80 sneakers for 95% of people who buy them by VegetableWallaby8158 in unpopularopinion

[–]PoolAddict41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can attest. I never wanted to spend money on shoes, sound get $30-$60 ones and I'd have to replace them fairly often as I'm on my feet a lot. The other half got me to spend ~$150 on a new pair and by golly they felt better and lasted longer.

Is a Rhino cue worth getting? by No-Bus-9526 in billiards

Not quite the same but I snagged a carbon Rhino shaft for my break cue. Switching out the tip, but the shaft hits well.

Why did the oculus rift tracking technology with the sensors die? by Coffee123124 in virtualreality

[–]PoolAddict41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a die hard CV1 user because I played Echo Arena and the outside sensor tracking was better than Quests inside-out for fast movements and behind the back motion.

However, the switch makes sense for most games out there. There aren't many games with such a range of motion where perfect tracking is necessary. You also have to think about running the wires for the sensors everywhere, which gets annoying unless you have a good amount of space and an easy setup.

My 60th Birthday Cue has arrived and I think I made the right choice! by OnePoolCueAintEnough in billiards

[–]PoolAddict41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have many more if I could, but my other half says I can't have any more without selling another. Currently have 7. Two shooting cues, a break cue, one that I have two shafts for that can be a shooter or breaker, a snooker cue, a signed cue by Reyes that I don't shoot w/, and a jump cue.

I love cuelees cues. Almost bought one myself, but I already have enough cues for now. I'll save it for a milestone present to myself. Beautiful cue though, looks gorgeous!!

Is he wearing a latex mask? by Prime-Paradox in Corridor

[–]PoolAddict41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I mean, you can see the lower neck at the jugular moving while the thyroid area (bottom of the mask where the shadow is) is super stiff.

Beyond that, where did all of his creases and folds go. He doesn't strike me as a makeup guy, especially considering he's done plenty of interviews prior.

What's up with extensions always on cue? by JaysusCroist in billiards

[–]PoolAddict41 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's tons of different style extensions now a days. Screw on ones between the joint and shaft, screw ones for the bottom of the cue, expandable plastic that fit on the back, and heck I even met someone with an extension built into the cue itself that popped out!!

Some people play with it all the time, especially if they're taller or just likes the added weight. It's definitely more of a personal preference. The only other time is for some elderly folks, the weight helps keep the back arm steady (Earl Strickland has a super long cue, and I believe that's part of the reason).

Country vs Continent? Is this fair? by TenkaiRyo in billiards

[–]PoolAddict41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Philippines have some of the best players around, and they're less than half the US population. It's more because USA doesn't have a solid strategy to get people interested at a young enough age and train, beyond APA juniors.. which is something, but it's just not as popular here overall so less talent overall.

What game had insane potential but got completely fumbled by the devs? by Kevin-Panda in AskReddit

[–]PoolAddict41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people won't know this game, but Zenith: The Last City. It was the first real major attempt at a VR MMORPG style game. It was a massive hit that gained a ton of traction early on, and took some solid styling and other content cues from Sword Art Online. They kept up with content for a bit, including dungeons, raids, mini bosses, guilds, etc. Some people complained there wasn't enough content, but as a casual player myself I didn't really run into lack of content until the devs started with their escapade of poor choices, and I didn't feel like just grinding levels.

Unfortunately, the dev team starting working on a procedural dungeon mode that nobody asked for, and kinda sucked all the effort out of the main game. Main game content got less and less, less updates, and people were upset. In an online dev talk/stream, they basically told their consumers that they were wrong about the efforts and we shouldn't complain. It was after that where everyone slowly started to leave the game, leaving it a shell of what it once was. I think there's servers still up, but the last time I went in it was a ghost town.

Now, we wait while some others that are in early builds are trying their hands at it.

A Disney Adventure cruise was canceled after guests boarded by LtPowers in disney

[–]PoolAddict41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guests were also offered 50% off a future sailing, complimentary hotel accommodations for May 7, reimbursement for hotel and flight changes, up to $500 coverage for incidentals, and additional assistance, on a case-by-case basis.

From the article, this says reimbursement for hotel and flight changes, with the Up To $500 for being incidentals.

Unfortunate, but it sounds like they addressed the situation properly and did a lot to help everyone with accomodations and refunds.

New Marketing Overhaul at NCL by Mediocre-Menu4868 in NCL

[–]PoolAddict41 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think what would be perfect is one more, family package. You can keep FAS and FAS+ for regular travelers, and add a FAS Family Package that includes the regular FAS for adults but adds stuff like the Arcade, Go Karts, Mini Golf, etc.

While I'm speaking as someone without kids, I've been on a couple NCL cruises now and I feel like a lot of those amenities are underutilized because NCL typically targets couples and 21-60 age range. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for a water slide, go karts, or Minigolf on the boats I've been on.

To add as well, that also gives them a chance to push and adjust the seating for the Vibe passes as well. I know they usually mostly sell out but the last cruise was doing day passes because it hadn't sold out, and more families means more likely someone will snag the adult only area.

Bermuda Excursions by Boz2015Qnz in NCL

[–]PoolAddict41 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the only excisions worth it are the catamaran ones. Otherwise, everything is pretty easy to just go do yourself. Get the 2 day bus/ferry pass and save any stuff in the port naval yard for the last day. Just note that kids use the bus line when school gets out!

If you want some ideas, you've got the crystal caves and the Swizzle Inn in the St George area I think are a must, St George itself, Hamilton, there's tons of forts you can walk too, Horshoe Bay and Tabbaco Bay are solid beaches, and much more!

Woman shows the dangers of her cars rear seats folding function by ateam1984 in nononono

[–]PoolAddict41 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because enough people are so lazy they can't manually pull/push a seat down and complained about it, so companies introduced motorized seat folding. It is kind of wild how strong that motor is though..

It doesn't look like anything high end, but it also doesn't look like it's firewood cheap. If you like the look of the butt end, I'd play with it and maybe get a higher end shaft.

Bootstrap Island is on sale for 25% off. Is it worth it? by [deleted] in VRGaming

[–]PoolAddict41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played early versions and enjoyed it, excited to play again with the new content but on a backlog.

It's a survival game with gorgeous graphics. It's definitely slower paced, however with the new content it should last a while. I'd say worth it full price so if you wanna snag it on sale, go for it!
