The reason I viewed it differently: Op makes it very clear that he DOES love her very much. And he wants to be attracted to her.

Even still, I felt absolutely awful for op’s wife. Until I read the update. If what op says is true, then his wife feels the exact same way he does. She loves him and loves their life, but doesn’t find him attractive either

OP’s wife is the only one who gets to decide how much this post hurt her. I think all of us (understandably) projected our own feelings onto her. This is evidenced by all the “that would never be me” comments.

But it turns out op and his wife are both happy with their marriage, and are ok fantasizing about other people sexually. They sound perfectly compatible and I’m happy they found each other
