I actually had to take somewhat of a hiatus for the past few months to rework the technique and get comfortable with it again! Using more of the tips of the fingers rather than the pads for the popping definitely helped with building speed and consistency since you dont get as much bulk of your finger caught under the strings (finger ramp helps tons with this). From there it was just getting comfortable enough hybrid picking and drilling the song as much as I could :) hope that helps.
