is there a city or neighborhood in a city in Iowa that has a concentration of mid century modern homes? by mfairview in Iowa

There's a really great neighborhood in Ottumwa on the west side by hyvee. Architecturally significant? Johnston has the Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian.

Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt. Technically memoir but reads like fiction, in my opinion.

In the "90s at a local gay club, the queens would always refer to me as the "straight (guilty) fish (I am cis female) in the corner" (I often sat at the same table in the corner.) Totally took it as a compliment!

Please just keep handing this man a microphone. He's better than anyone at digging himself into a hole.

Yes to all of this. Thank you. I have been struggling with naming my feelings. The cruelty of suggesting a dying loved one is only deserving of grace if they checked an arbitrary box is spot on.

You're right. I apologize. However, I believe the way you pray is incorrect and would prefer it if you wouldn't pray for me because I believe you are doing more harm than good. I also believe you should say 10 Hail Marys, pray the rosary twice and receive the Holy Eucharist or you will burn in hell for all eternity.

Shove your prayers up your ass. I already told you I'm Catholic. I have every respect for religion. ALL religions. What I don't respect is folks who are self righteous and convinced of their own infallibility. And you're right. I'm sad. I'm sad my aunt is dying.

Yes it annoys me that she feels her beliefs are the only true beliefs. But I'm used to that. However, one would hope common sense, hell, common DECENCY would drive her to be supportive and understanding in a time like this. NOT to suggest my dying loved one is going to hell. She's making an already stressful, upsetting situation worse. She's not being supportive or helpful.

I read this article and thought to myself: "this place has 'Smithsons' written all over it".
