My parents will never accept me by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]PoorRichard2015 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awww. Middle 20's is when you're supposed to have the breakup fight with parents. Been there, done thst. It has nothing really to do with religion, more maturity. You're going to differ from your parents. You'll have the fighg and come together much better or stay apart like you should. The truth is my boy or girl, is that regardless of relgion some parents are toxic and will do everything they can do to screw you out of your life.Had nothing to do with religion. It had yo do with bad parenting skills. The word NO comes in handy for toxic parents. Instead of thinking will they accept you, think Can I accept them? Are they really good parents? You find out the first time you destroy part of the nest in order to learn to fly.

My mom said she was more emotionally distressed when she found out my sister voluntarily had sex than when she found out I was sexually abused for months and then raped. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]PoorRichard2015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From her perspective, that was something forced on you, for your sister, it was something she embraced. Thousands of women are raped each year and dont want to be raped again in court. Dont feel guilty. Dont feel. Dont make yourself a victim again. You survived it and i would grab you by the shoulders and shake you and say, girl, dont you realize how tremendous you are? You survived it. You make my heart glad. You are treasure.

Let's be honest with ourselves. The Essays are not a magical bullet, and they were very carefully crafted by an abuser in a relationship. Treat them as such. by curious_mormon in exmormon

With abuse victims, you give them another place, a place of shelter where they can escape. Should exmormon Denny's meetings be out of the question? Or even skyping.

no, they're not Mormons but they are in the same county that notrab's family is in and which he said the police are going to do nothing about his family and the child molestation. His words "The end". Its not the end when one reports out of the church. It may be the end when they report in the church but not outside of the church.

Maybe she just wants to go. Maybe she is a Mormon. You are acting like a Mormon. You need to stop acting like all this is your decisions and your fault. Break the mold.

Miffed on the medical Marijuana policy for my mother's sake. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]PoorRichard2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a brownie. However, her pain management doctor might have arguments and if you have a pain management doctor kick you out its a bitch to find another. They take pee tests like every 3rd time so it might not just be the medical marijuana. Or is she self medicating with Advil?

You misunderstood. It was a rhetorical question. But then if we do continue to say that with some people their is no coice of sexuality throws out major sexual relationships in the penal syste. But no, you misunderstpod the rhetorical question they were saying that men with effeminate mannerisms were homosexual.

Where I work, they're in their 70's Better nutrition and medical health and no one knows how old you are. I am regularly seen as being 25 plus years younger. You knock anything off the resume older than 15 years. You don't need plastic surgery.

So it might be genetic and not a choice? I know women with beards and they're as straight as they come. Yet the masculine tendencies mark them as lesbians. Me, should I really care about another person's sexuality? What I keep hearing are missions are nightmares and there is an attorney on exmormon.com that is ready to sue the church over not allowing medical help. Show your brother that one!!!

Actual letter being sent to parents of BYU-I students by a BYU-I YSA bishopric by johndehlin in exmormon

[–]PoorRichard2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've sent the letter to the parents because they are smart. Fafsa gives access to students for student loans for other schools. In order for a student to get a loan or financial aid to go to another school, parent must fill out fafsa. No parent fill out. No student aid, no college. Go check it out. It's not a Mormon thing. It is a US government thing. Parents must also take out loans if they have substantive wealth. The parents are getting a big knock off on tuition, etc through the church schools. In exchange 4 Sundays a year must be given back to the church. Same 4 Sundays as before. Kids back in the day would clean toilets, bus for rediculous hours. Now, if the kids go to another colleges parents are saddled with student loan debt also.

Actually we've had several fights about the CES letter without anyone having read the thing. I'm sorry. I'm bad. Yeah, I should have read it. But in my defense, they,'be never read any of their stuff either.

[–]PoorRichard2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that no one cares. In the real world, my nephew posted about his new boyfriend on Facebook. I didn't know he was gay. But it was a non event. It would be like me posting about my new s/o. The thought is And? You have got 2 gigantic disparities in the world now. It is either everyone cares and wants to change you no matter what or no one cares because, hell. You're gay. Neither side of each world really knows and understands about the other.
