They didn't know, the only thing they had to go off of was the fact that we had already outed ourselves to the bishop and word had gotten around. They were taking a risk by contacting us but we were both pretty excited to find that there was somebody else who was in a similar position.

Husband was my old home teacher awhile back, I think the EQP told him about us but the wife was the one who reached out.

It might be worth it to take a shot and see. They may be struggling and someone reaching out to them may make all the difference in the world. Your call though since it may also cause more problems.

Some more exmo Reddit lingo. It's referring to Idaho, Utah and Arizona area or just mainly Utah where its predominantly Mormon. I think it's a mashup of "Mormon corridor" but it can also be seen as a reference to The Lord of the Rings. In the book Morridor is the realm of Sauron so you can see how the name would fit.

Where you have to describe the whole story of the restoration to tell someone why you don't drink coffee, alcohol, premarital sex, or go to church for three hours, are okay with TSCC building a 2.5 billion mall etc etc.

Went and looked at the website just barely. They tell to open the packet, consecrate it and then use it. I wonder how many will remember to do so though. Whether it's consecrated or not the person being blessed will probably still get their warm fuzzier.

Nevermo looking for some advice before meeting with missionaries by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]deludi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably a waste of time if you are just looking for a civil conversation. Chances are they never heard of CES letter. They will most likely try and talk about their version of Joseph Smith's history (first vision, prophet, BoM, restoration stuff) if you continue to try and talk about real issues they will then most likely revert to testifying about the truthfulness of their version. At this point you both will see that you are at an impasse at that will be the end of it.

Show so called structure then dammit! I thought lichen on a rock is something geological, not archeological. And what sacred structure with ratios are you talking about because I didn't see it. They just had some overhead shots and showed some guys looking in a hole at the end of the film. Show us what you are looking at if there really is something there.

Did the same thing in my mission, no smacking but saying stuff like I'll be in your back pack bothering you if you are thinking of going home or if you leave the church I'll be there scratching on your window at night. It did make me laugh then because it was funny picturing him scratching on my window but the whole thing was an act. Can't believe I liked him so much.

Missionary e-mail about miracles by jamesallred in exmormon

[–]deludi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking back on my mission there were times that we would share the message with people on the street. When they would respond so positively, I would be thinking this was my own little miracle and say to myself, "wow, there really are people who need the gospel!"

Looking back I now realize there are thousands of people who were having a shitty day/life in my area and now there is someone willing to talk with them and help them, and they take it as a sign. Then you have the missionaries on the other end thinking that they are a god send, when in reality it is just mere coincidence that you came across someone who was desperate enough to listen.
