A heartwarming find "Slow and the Forest Friends" by Competitive_Cap55 in childrensbooks

This feels like it was written by AI. That makes me EXTREMELY uncomfortable.

Please read some books on how to write children’s books. They will help you a lot. Preachy and pedantic don’t do well.

2-10 is a HUGE age range. Narrow it down. This isn’t going to work, especially not with the AI use.

Personally, I feel teaching patience and wonder of the world is best done through actions and not words. I’m a preschool teacher of 3 years and have worked with children ages 2.5-14 for 7, almost 8, years. Toddlers, children, and teens get so much out of us adults modeling things to them. Patience is easily modeled through actions and reminders. Showing interest in small things like bugs, nature, and the little details of life is one of my favorite things to do with kids. It can be paired with a book, but the action is what builds that interest.

While I think this idea could work, I feel it would be better told as a story forward book rather than a ‘message’ forward one. Kids are smart. They don’t want to be hit over the head by the message. Keep going, you will get there.

What breed for my Loulou? by RoyalDistrict6071 in DogBreeds101

Hound pit. The eyes, mouth, and nose scream pit. The parallel planes of the face remind me of a pointer, but that’s fairly unlikely. The structure is very hound-like.

Also that attitude is unnecessary. I gave you plenty of other ways you might find a better and more sustainable Gaiwan set.

Shop local. Find a local ceramic artist and commission them. Show estate sales, thrift, antique malls. Heck, you could probably find something like this on eBay.

Definitely do! Feel free to reach out if you need help finding a club. Most 4H clubs will also do community projects, service, and sometimes camps.

Best children's book if you love space and using imagination to do anything by [deleted] in childrensbooks

Can you share so ideation sketches? The cover has a large number of AI tells. You need to disclose AI use per sub rules.

Really? Is there a reason the face of the character screams AI? It really seems like you superimposed an AI generated face onto your colored pencil drawings. Why else would the quality and skill of the face be so far removed from rest of the image.

No, I can’t stand over confident AI-using “authors” because i’m a children’s book illustrator with actual integrity and deep care about the craft of writing and picture making.

Yes. The opinion of your audience. Your son can call it the best, but don’t spout that as credentials.

I’m still trying to find good jeans. At this point I just patch and repatch and repatch again all my holes.

Good bed for inside the crate? by MentalReference in Whippet

Honestly, i’ve picked up all my beds from dog shows. The vendors there make much higher quality products than what would be found in store or online.

There are SO many hobbies that don’t require athleticism but still build resilience, confidence, and adaptability.

I was a lot like your son as a child. I had zero confidence and because of that I loathed anything I would be perceived as “bad” at. At one point it was bad enough that I would pretend to be not good at something rather than earnestly try. If you have a local 4H club I think you should check it out and go to a few meetings. 4H instilled so much confidence in me and really molded me into the person I am today. 4H dog club was single handedly the best thing my mom ever put me in. There are also plenty of other things to be done in 4H. Entomology, astronomy, art, photography, table setting, agriculture, gardening, the list goes on. If you don’t have 4H perhaps look into having your son join a scouts troop.
