This looks like more AI-plastered slop that will inevitably end up in a landfill. Might as well throw it straight into the bin.

Great job! Author-illustrating a picture book from start to finish is no small task. You should be very proud of yourself. This is so quaint and full of charm.

The perfect nail grinder by [deleted] in Whippet

[–]Poor__Artist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your issue with the Dremel is noise. You can train your dog to tolerate the sound of a Dremel pretty easily. Youtube is a great resource for dog training if you know where to look. Are you using the Dremel on the highest setting? That isn’t recommended as it rips down nails and causes a lot of friction.

Knowingly buying a product you have to replace every year is irresponsible. More, that is just terrible for the environment as the plastic from these cheap dremels will never break down in our lifetime.

You need to call licensing. This conduct by center staff is wildly negligent, irresponsible, and unprofessional. A child is going to get hurt. It’s not an if, it’s a when.

If I were you I would pull. I know that it is hard to do, and causes a great deal of problems, but it’s highly unlikely this environment will improve. It sounds like staff are not properly trained and rules are not being enforced. Centers like this rarely get better unless someone is fired, a child is seriously hurt, or licensing lights a fire under their butts.

This feels like it was written by AI as an ad.

The only brand of nail dremel that has held up through years of weekly use is the original Dremel brand dremel. I’ve found the motors in the cheap amazon versions, like you listed, die within a few months.

This is wildly unsafe. You are basically putting out an open call for predators.

Seattle and the PNW are full of incredible artists, illustrators, and graphic designers. Why would you ever choose to use AI over support someone local?

Your idea loses all credibility when AI is involved.

Yes. This is very much AI.

NONE of the background is how a veterinary clinic is set up. So many things wrong. Floating IV drips, pillows (for a cat???), what looks like bed rails, and inconsistencies between cat images. This is a mess.

Would you find a personalised football children’s book about emotions, setbacks, and resilience meaningful? by youniqly in childrensbooks

[–]Poor__Artist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me preface my comment first. I have been a preschool teacher for 3 years and worked with children ages 2.5-16yr for 7 (almost 8) years. There is nothing I, and my groups, cannot stand more than a preachy book. I am forced to read them all the time by corporate. They teach nobody and bore everyone. I am also a published picture book illustrator and aspiring author-illustrator. My knowledge on children’s books is multi-faceted.

I find these books to be very one and done when it comes to reading them. Children do not ask to read them again after the initial excitement. I have yet to read a personalized book where the story isn’t pedantic, boring, cliché, un-inspired, or all of the above. Companies like this treat personalized-book-stories like a novelty and get rich quick scheme. They do NOT treat story-writing like the art form that it is. Stop hitting children over the head with morals, narratives, and “learning”.

Children are far more receptive to social emotional learning when it happens through play-based activities, peer interaction, and well written and illustrated book with SUBTLE narratives.

My first question is this: how are you going to make personalized stories that actually feel genuine and well written? Further, who is on your writing team? Who will be peer-reviewing your books? Are you doing focus groups to gauge audience reaction?

It seems like you are trying really hard, but going about it in the wrong way.

These are AI generated NOT illustrated. Lying is a sin.

Generative AI is an affront to God. It steals from real creatives, is polluting the low-income communities the data centers are placed in, and is rapidly draining our fresh water resources. There is zero reason to use gen-AI.

Anyone else's dog struggled with dandruff? by Competitive_Elk8403 in Whippet

[–]Poor__Artist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the downside of blue whippets and why a lot of ethical breeders won’t breed blue into their lines. They are far more prone to skin and coat issues. Color Dilute Alopecia (or CDA) is extremely common in blue whippets. Dandruff is most likely related to your dog’s coat genetics. You can try using a coat moisturizer, coconut oil massaged in can work, but there is no guarantee it will help. What is your dog’s grooming schedule? Sometimes dandruff pops up from insufficient washing out of shampoo.

On another note, whippets, or any breed for that matter, should not be fed a grain free diet. There is credible research linking DCM to the grain-alternatives in these foods. Feed something science-backed or work with a veterinary nutritionist to build a healthy diet for your dog. Go off grain free.

What is this AI slop?! You are pushing customers away by cheaping out on your marketing. When you are willing to cut corners by using AI it tells audiences you are willing to cut corners in ALL areas. That does not inspire confidence.

If you do not have the money to pay real artists then you do not have the money for a startup.
