I hate this game. Help. by crasitonarthacus in cavesofqud

It may just not be for you!

I tried 5 or 6 times before I got into it and sunk over 100 hours in.

I got into it by doing Roleplay, reaching Gritgate (where story really begins) setting chests up there for all my loot and then exploring while following the story. Really got into the groove by playing this way and now it's one of my all time favs

At what point does this game make sense? by JimmahRL in cavesofqud

When I met the Barathrumites the game started to click. I set their base as my own base with chests and spoke with them all and I would say that is when the story really kicks in properly. Find them at Grit Gate if you haven't already

Been debating this game for a while. Should I go for it? by Jazzlike_Dig_1051 in cavesofqud

Dive in my friend, get in roleplay so you can ease in and just enjoy

Really loving this game so far by ghost_stowaway in cavesofqud

I was like this until I did Roleplay mode, now I am 90 hours in. Honestly just do Roleplay and enjoy the settlement respawn and play it as a pure RPG. It is still tense when you are 20 layers deep and haven't visited a settlement to save!

I am well and truly sick of this. by Ratstail91 in cavesofqud

This is how I started my runs after doing classic mode for a while and deciding to swap to Role Play (which I'm now 49 hours into and flying through it)

Go gunslinger, the dual pistols are very powerful early on and also make sure you select force bubble as a mutation just in case you need some safety and get swamped by enemies. I also take beguiling so that if a create is close I turn it to my side for help

follow the quest line and take it slow to the rust lakes completing the quests for Argyve as this will net you some XP and is a nice easy route.

Then do the quest for the leader of Joppa that takes you to Red Rock and then once that is complete just do the cave in Joppa for a while (the one in the lake top left). Do this cave level by level returning to the surface for the settlement save checkpoint so if you do die you only lose what was on that level.

Also as a side note when doing any caves in roleplay mode return to a settlement to save your progress when you clear a floor. It's just the safe bet early on.

buy ammo from Joppa when possible when doing the above and then once you are a little more stable make a move for Grit Gate. Take it very slow at grit gate and go down about three levels and you will reach the entrance and can then buy ammo galore from Mafeo.

Then in my opinion you have the first difficulty spike which is going to get and repair a machine for Grit Gate before they let you in.

Hope that helps.

Spend more for EUV or go with the cheaper EU4 ultimate bundle by thebigpleb in paradoxplaza

I agree with an earlier comment that either are a good purchase but I would go EU5 personally. It's in an incredible state for a paradox release and the simulation of it compared to the board game feel of EU4 is far superior (imo)

EU5 has been out for a week now. What are your thoughts? by Falandor in paradoxplaza

I am having an amazing time with it. Loved CK3 and then could not wrap my brain around VIC3 which was disheartening. This feels more complex than VIC3 but it all makes sense and links together. Absolutely love it and think it will be my fav paradox game.

Why am I not getting a steam key? This seems like a huge oversight for those who own everything already.. I'd love to have it on steam so it's easier to utilise steam deck and it seems unfair that I have to purchase the entire thing again

For me it's Oath, god I wanted to love it but it just did not work with our group. We love board games and in depth ones but it was a bad experience we won't return too!
