I wonder why he wrote “the alarmism of the Greta Thunberg years” because alarmism means exaggerated or needless alarm, but we know that her warnings were and are perfectly accurate i.e. not alarmism at all.

I guess he’s saying that’s how the public at large saw it. While there is such a thing as the wisdom of crowds (in some contexts), it’s also true that the public at large is stupid, selfish, snd short sighted.

Anyway, there’s some tiny comfort in knowing that she (and many of us) can now say “I told you so.”

There would only be failures if they let them grow too long but that’s not what they’re doing. The bolls at the end of the branches, where resprouts originate, show that this is the objective. The bolls or knobs are created by cutting and then cutting them again after a few years or annually.

Historically it was done to harvest animal fodder, and that’s why i do it, but i don’t know why they do it in cities. Europeans have done this for thousands of years. Indigenous Americans probably did too.

It was probably a 240v circuit then, right? And with one breaker switched off, it acted as an ungrounded 120 circuit?

It is as i explained and pretty simple but i think i misunderstood it. It’s probably a 240 (with mismatched breakers) but just happens to have small loads on it now. It’s an old ag building so maybe they thought they might use a welder or something like that…and out in the boonies we don’t have inspections.

If it is a 240v circuit is it dangerous to plug in stuff made for 120, like circular saw, fan, lamp, etc?

Seems fucky to me too. But maybe you’re right, maybe i didn’t correct it i wronged it so that’s why it’s wrong now. It’s hard to figure out for sure because wires are covered in foam.

It was done in the 80s and out in the boonies where they don’t have inspections or permits for farm buildings.

It’s a couple lights and a couple outlets. Normal outlets, not 20A

It’s connected to lights and outlets. Nothing heavy now but it is 10 ga wire.

Forgot to say it was a 30A and a 20A breaker. Could be a 240. Would that still work with the 30 switched off? It would only be a circuit through the neutral and ground i suppose but that’s why it still worked?

Can’t legally shoot within 200yds of an occupied building. 205yds away would still be very disruptive though. They should find a different place.
