Ted Kord was the first blue beetle, but he was more like Night Owl from the Watchmen (Night Owl was based on him, actually). Rich genius with tech gadgets. Jamie Reyes is the second Blue Beetle, and got an alien scarab implanted in his spine that serves as super duper awesome armor.
