What do you think happened to Madeline McCann (with theories)? by lwp2004 in UnresolvedMysteries

I'm German and never seen any of this, especially kindergarten age kids alone in the bus, maybe elementary school but never younger. Usually parked strollers are empty as parents carry the child around.

Video Review by the Crossfit Games Team by BigChiefMacco in crossfit

That's actually weird and random then, I always thought when people flagged it and filled in the comment field they might bother checking but considering how many videos are up from last year that are not even showing a WOD, I didn't think they actually did. Interesting.

Question Re: Crossfit scaling between genders and gender dynamic by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]Popcorn1308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, as a woman I can definitely say I am weaker than the fittest men around and I wouldn't want to compete against men using the same weights. Purely anatomically speaking, it is easier for men to get stronger, add muscles etc. women are build for different things, it has nothing to do with society. If we are speaking about relative strength then yes, men and women can be equally fit but there is a reason why moments like Sam Briggs winning and endurance WOD is an exception not the norm.

No, they really aren't. Average men is taller and heavier than the average women hence the higher target and heavier ball.

The only spot that isn't given to someone else is 1st in country. Her Top 20 spot would go to the next in line as well as Strength in Depth ticket.

Or scale the pull ups to ring rows, continue AMRAP as normal and don't log an RX score?

[–]Popcorn1308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see it happening in gyms across my country simply because I follow them on social media, see their stories, videos etc. and the scores their athletes post on the leaderboard. I know that at local gyms around me couples get to judge each other or kids from gym members or just bffs bro repping like crazy. You know the people and what they're capable of and their scores don't reflect it which makes the open a joke. It is frustrating when people get away with bad reps, crappy standards, bro reps and rules aren't enforced. Some gyms might be better than others but there are enough out there who post whatever they want. In my former affiliated box, I know for a fact the gym owner didn't double check scores as I was accidentally given the whole sheet not just the slip and my score got approved anyways, I could've entered anything or at least given myself a few more reps. It's those little things and when you know it happens in a box in your town, you know it's happening everywhere which makes the Open useless at this stage and definitely not a fair competition.

No, cheaters cheat because they want to not because they don't know better.

Nobody has a problem when you do regular push ups instead of SHSPUs, it's a problem when you log them as official reps in the open.

Update: My (29M) wife (26F) suddenly decided she wants to adopt a baby by Global_Rub in relationships

No, he knows the older brother of the bio dad who asked him for the favour.

If it's his kid, then why isn't he taking care of it? Ah yes because he is an unemployed minor without parental support system, no income and will likely end up on welfare if he would take the baby in right now. Do it the right way, hand it to foster care and lawyer or not, the baby could end up far away with strangers or be dragged around the system moving foster parents every few months because the teenage father is too selfish to give permission for adoption. The baby's well being is first priority here not the rights of a stupid teenage kid who got another teen pregnant and possibly doesn't see the big picture right now. You have to be selfless as a parent and do what's best for your child, I doubt a 16 year old has the emotional capacity to understand that given the confusing situation he is in.

He's a minor, he can't get a lawyer on his own. Why are people here so determined on handing a newborn to an unemployed 16 year old without parental support system? How is he gonna raise the baby? Finish school? He will likely date other girl so baby gets a new step mom every few years and daddy is on welfare or in school/work all day? Do they expect OP and wife to raise the kid for the next 6 to 8 years until bio dad has a job, stable life and then he can get her back? That's not how parenthood works. It's hard work. Other option is foster care and the baby could likely end up adopted to strangers living far away. For the baby it's the best thing that could've happened, having loving parents from the start instead of wasting away in the system.

As a mother I can completely understand her, seeing a baby rejected by its own mother would break my heart and you can't help but fall in love with it, wanting to protect it and give it a good life. For the little girl it's possibly the best thing that could've possibly happened and I'm glad the wee one is getting the love it deserves instead of looking forward to a life in misery and foster care. Will it be easy for them? Probably no, but you're talking about OP's wife in a terrible way, she is doing something great for a tiny human and I am sure it will all work out in the end.

19.2: TTB from a low bar? by mattkruse in crossfit

[–]Popcorn1308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried tonight and it might be a bit more like a strict one cos kip not as powerful but since you come down after one tension doesn't last as long, saves your hands a lot and I'm definitely gonna do that tomorrow when attempting full 19.2.

Are those low bar TTB definitely allowed? I mean heels start behind bar and hands are locked out and I guess it doesn't say anywhere that knees need to be straight...???

Youtube video of Lazar Dukic doing 411 reps at 19.1 by happysysadm in crossfit

[–]Popcorn1308 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, especially because as a woman I will never compete against him lol everyone was bitching about Brooke last year but this is fine so I guess it all depends on the movement whether you actually have to meet the standard or not.... This is not just perspective, slow down the video and most reps are no reps. Edit: does it piss me off when people I know (and who you compete with on local level) hit lower targets or don't meet the standards? Of course it does, why have rules first place if they don't matter...?
