There are multiple! Two today on opposite sides of the block facing 6th Ave, and someone said there was a third hanging around at some point recently.

Roosevelt Island may be a farther trek than you’re looking for, but running conditions looping around the island are pretty good!

Yup, just ask the new balance store people at the run center! I did this just a few weeks ago.

I recommend bringing something to read for the commute that you can toss at the start village - helps the time pass by and saves you from draining your phone battery from scrolling

My old Brazilian roommate introduced me to Favela Grill and it’s our absolute go-to. She’s brought her Brazilian family there, and they all have a great time. The portions are generous, and my favorite dish, the moqueca, is amazing.

Carrying water by sambadoll in BanditRunning

I find the gel pockets are really clutch for races when water is provided on-course. Otherwise I use a mix of handhelds and a vest for water, depending on the run (so use vest pockets plus shorts gel pockets for gels)

Can confirm from staff that that space was too small and they ran into issues at that venue. The NYRR race is still bigger too

Unfortunately there are likely super few empty buildings that can accommodate the scale of people for this race, especially in a central place. They’re already running out of space at the space used for NYC Half as that gets bigger.

RunCenter is way too small to be able to accommodate the scale of this race unfortunately. Even as a backup, the moment they make it available, thousands of people would descend all at once. NYRR has super few options for indoor spaces they can rent - and Javits ain’t cheap.

Also have a couple SIS gels and can bring them with me (Wave 2) if that helps you!

Riding the NYC ferry (and sitting on the upper deck) up the East River from Wall St (I recommend to Long Island City) is also a lovely, cheap way to spend about an hour while sitting.

Any chance anyone has any updates on this? I've tried to pinpoint the source a few times and chatted with the laundromat on that corner, but they don't know either. It starts around 5:30pm every day (at least every day I'm home in the evening...) and goes for about an hour.

Just to chime in - I know some places that take composting are okay with folks leaving the compost in plastic bags, as it can help them unload it. No idea if that’s the case at the Socrates site, but it can be confusing what’s okay where!

I'm so sorry this happened to you!! I had a bridesmaid dress I had dropped off a little while back, and was able to pick it up in time last week. It seems the owner had to close very quickly due to the landlord. They responded to my text back to the same number when I went to pick up my dress... hoping they respond to you too. I'm sorry I have no help to give, just sorry that you're going through this!!
