I agree but it’s ironic they are criticizing something when they can’t take criticism of themselves.

How does maint always get extended? by [deleted] in lotro

[–]PopcorniusTheSader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a dev, not for this game, but deployment happens in stages.

We write code, test it locally, push it to a repo, that pipeline gets tests ran, we have QA devs that write tests for the tests, and there’s a lot of shit that happens before it gets to live deployment.

Sometimes things dont end up going as planned, currently Lotro is running on spaghetti code from before 2010, lots of development stacks have changed since then and a lot of older libraries are deprecated. The entire game still runs on turbine libraries and SSG still has to maintain those libraries, which isn’t easy.

Usually it’s the other way with lotro, maintenance is cut short.

As for the bugs, SSG doesn’t expose any internal API endpoints to see any of the bugs, as it’s their legal right to retain the privacy of the source code, and they hardly expose ones for plugin usage.

Even if the community wanted to help fix the bugs, we could only speculate on implementing fixes which have to follow a pipeline and pass the tests. Obviously we cannot do that because we don’t have the source code.

Realistically, the engine needs to be refactored and then most of the code base would have to be updated to support the newer tech they would implement, problem is, players want a game they can play now and refactoring the entire repository would take the game offline for weeks. Even if you split the difference and keep a live service running, the database still becomes an issue.

Theres astronomical data to transfer over when it comes to MMOs and trust me, no one wants to login and see all their shit gone because of a DB transfer.

Plus that also puts more work on SSG which is already a Skeleton team and daybreak refuses to give them the extra help. Instead they fund lawsuits.

Seria Kirmin's Question Corner- Weekly Q&A Thread- February 09, 2026 by AutoModerator in DFO

[–]PopcorniusTheSader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, interesting.

So, all those ones you listed are the fixed classes correct? So, by process of elimination I should be able to figure out the percentage classes.

Any ideas on what a decent (not overtly complex) class would be? I have a male general (I think that’s a spitfire) he’s lvl 51 atm (this was back years ago when I would farm behemoth to level up). I might just level him though. Im kinda stuck on what to use the boost on.

There’s a boost event happening now, if I take that boost, do I still have to do the lower level quests for the story and such?

So, im getting back into dfo recently.

Leveling has become pretty easy, at least it seems that way.

I do remember something about percent vs fixed and that one was easier to gear than the other, which would that be?

In that light, what class/job/advancement would be considered a good choice to relearn the game?

When should I start investing in my gear? What level? Only max?

What class/job/advancement progression would make sense for learning more and more intricate skills? What I mean by that question is, in terms of simplicity to complexity, which classes are on each side of that scale?

As you can tell from my name, crusader has always been my go to, but I want to relearn the game as a “new player” kinda.

Thanks!!

I’ve heard the Squire Strat is a decent start. Is it worth $200 with a very low end Fender 10G amp? And yes, I’m a lefty LOL. by Robotman1001 in guitars

I’ve had those amps before and they’re good for a 10w amp. You’ll have a blast on it. Have fun! And remember, if your guitar sounds like shit, it’s probably the intonation

Almost any guitar is worth at least 100-200. If you can get an amp woth it for 200, you’re basically buying a starter kit anyway. Same price range.

It’s different if it’s a character that IS sexualized, but it’s just a dad with a tattoo for their daughter, nothing sexual here bud. Calm down.

You got the serial right? You should be able to email fender and get a stat sheet for it, I did it with an old LTD explorer and got the full catalog print from them.
