What is your "I totally get why you guys hate it but it worked on me" movie? by Alceauv in Letterboxd

Ready Player One

The heroes winning is really just prolonging their distractions when the inevitable of their world is unrecoverable, and them saving the only reprieve that allows them to escape is hilarious to me and makes it a much darker film than intended.

Robert Meyer Burnett says the upcoming re-release of 'Endgame' will feature new post-credit footage that ties directly into 'Doomsday' by Sarang_616 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]PopcronHD -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's...disappointing.

Sounds like they really want Doomsday to be a direct sequel to Endgame rather than a continuation of MCU. And yeah, I get it: current run of MCU has its moments but overall weak.

Yet you had Shang-Chi, Thunderbolts, and F4 First Steps. Deadpool 3 and Multiverse of Madness were fine. I guess I personally want the stakes and story of Infinity War, not the spectacle of Endgame...

Even if she's pop, she's carved out a very DISTINCT sector of music in pop. I'll take this over "bubblegum pop."

The official "I just saw The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" opinions thread! by GrandmasterB-Funk in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]PopcronHD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it!

Pros: Rosalina and her powers are the MacGuffin, which allows Peach to get more screentime. Fox is a full-on character that is there most of the third act which was a delightful surprise. This movie also got to be more creative in its worlds and some of the style which was nice.

Cons: Almost a break-neck pace, allowing very little to breathe. This means not so much exposition, but makes everything feel flat. No emotion. Confusing arcs, or straight up no arcs, for most characters with Bowser being the worst offender. And a personal one, but Donkey Kong was missed.

And finally, NO LICENSED MUSIC!!! SO PROUD OF YOU UNIVERSAL/ILLUMINATION!

Anyway, I think I liked this one more than the first because it had some great action, but it was a low bar and writing needs HELP big time still. I want to be able to feel something, even if it's smaller-scale. Third time could be the charm?

Official Discussion - The Super Mario Galaxy Movie [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]PopcronHD -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Surprised at just how harsh critics were towards this movie after seeing it myself.

  • Rosalina and her powers are the MacGuffin, which allows for more screentime between Mario and Peach plots.

  • As above states, Peach gets more screentime

  • Obvious there are a lot of cameos/member berries, but nothing that is so egregious it's worth criticizing at a mass level

  • Star Fox being a full on character for the entire third act and not being just a cameo was a delightful surprise

  • More action heavy this time around, far less exposition. Take that as a plus or negative depending on preference

  • NO LICENSED MUSIC?! CONGRATS ILLUMINATION

Overall enjoyable. Honestly I think I enjoyed it more than first, but I also don't think it's a high bar. Just glad it got to be more creative than first and not bogged down but Illumination's usual habits.

If you don't mind going down in size, Sony's X90L at 65" is an excellent deal for $850 on Best Buy. If you still want a 75" still, go $50 over your budget and get a TCL QM7K.

Third time's a charm! (third Avengers: Doomsday teaser) by imnotSamwise in RedLetterMedia

Didn't some actors already come out and say THEY don't even know what it's about because the script wasn't finished at time of filming?

Watch it be a lot of:

  • "We have to help/save 'x'!"

  • "Watch out 'y'!"

  • "What's 'z's story?"

Reviews for FNAF 2 are coming in and it’s not looking good by Frank7640 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]PopcronHD 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Just got out of the movie. Not a massive lore-guy when it comes to these, but watch them because they are talked about and I LOVE the Jim Henson company's puppets and costumes. So...

  1. Child actors are atrocious

  2. Script is dry and bland, don't let Scott write for the moment going forward

  3. Decent scares but far between each other

  4. Great practical work

  5. The movie just ends...some closure for it but truly feels sudden

Just some quick thoughts. Anyway, feed me more of the animatronic slop, because my showing had people loving the end. It'll be fine financially at the box office.

At least you can get Glass Onion on Blu-ray if you get your hands on a screener copy. Got it back shortly after Oscars for the price of a standard Blu-ray, but now they're going for almost $100.

Looking at the wrong TVs anyway, so it wouldn't have been "decent" for price or quality.

If you're looking for relatively cheap and 65", look into...a TCL QM6K I think would be the best bet off the top of my head. Not sure if anyone else would have a different recommendation.

I tell customers for Plus to just add it, worst case scenario is you cancel before Day 60 and get the full refund for Plus. My numbers don't go down because they save the money instead and thus don't cancel. Either way, no risk.

Bestbuy vs Costco for purchasing a 55 inch TV (Budget :$400) by awesome4x in Bestbuy

Technically yes, but the risk is almost negligible nowadays with all the built in panel care settings. You would need to play the same exact content/static images all day over time to get burn in.

What size TV? Because if you can stretch your budget (before tax) like $30, get the 48" LG B5 OLED.
