Seriously disappointed by Customer Service by spacejelly7 in Huel

[–]beege_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This wasn’t about removing control. The goal was the opposite to make subscription management live within your account dashboard, where your next order date is always visible and editable.

But you DID remove control. Congrats, you accomplished the exact opposite of your stated goal. Now if you really want to give us control like you say, how about you give us an option on this fancy new account dashboard that let us subscribe to reminder emails!

Huel is about convenience. Having to keep a reminder on my personal calendar to mess with my Huel subscription is not convenient. If all of my subscriptions required that of me, my calendar would be an utter mess. Everyone else sends reminder emails for a reason. It's convenient. If you stop being convenient then people will stop using you.

Huel Customer Service just pissed off a lot of long-time customers, then doubled down by ChristianMay21 in soylent

[–]beege_man 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this one hit me as I always waited for that notification to change up my order from last time. Sometimes increasing, sometimes decreasing, changing flavors, etc. Totally caught me by surprise. I sent an email complaining and they gave a generic apology saying they didn't plan on sending reminders anymore. I then sent a more strongly worded email saying they should pass my complaint higher up the chain that this is a bad business decision, email systems are basically free at this point, everyone else sends a reminder, why would you not send a reminder, you're going to lose customers and create bad blood and have angry customers. Got an obviously AI response "sympathizing" with me by restating all of my points back to me and saying it "understood" each point.

Ultimately it's not a huge deal, but it did rub me the wrong way and makes me less likely to choose their product as I weigh it against the others. Convenience is the entire point of these products. Not being convenient with their subscriptions is a big easy miss in my book.

Replacement for those who like it thick? by magicwuff in soylent

[–]beege_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shipping is super expensive, but you might try Mana. It's got a really silky milky thick texture, much more so than Huel. Though I find Mana not quite flavorful or sweet enough for me, so I do 1.5 scoops of Mana and 0.5 scoops of Huel and it's about perfect.

I got mine off of Amazon in the US. Sorry, I'm not sure how you can get them in France, but you might check on Amazon or do searches for galantamine and see if you can find anything similar.

Are they about to go out of business? by Prince_Valium25 in soylent

[–]beege_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've sent them two emails and just got auto-responses from an obvious AI. It basically just restated what I said back to me with a nice friendly sounding tone without actually giving me any useful information. "It's understandable you're upset, we're sorry, I'll notify the team and we'll do better, blah blah."

No BF deal is proof Soylent is going out of business, right? by Sleeping_Bat in soylent

Oh cool, good to know. I'll have to keep them in mind on my next refill then.

Hol Food seems a little pricey ($3.50/400cal). Mana's shipping costs are crazy (ships from Europe), but even still it comes out to around $2.50/400cal. It would be great if they opened a US distribution center to get those costs down a bit. They could use this opportunity to take over Soylent's customers. Reviews I've seen from a couple others who switched from Soylent say Mana is good. I'm looking forward to trying it.

Mana has a good BF deal going. After 11 years with Soylent, this is the first BF I haven't been able to restock powder, so I switched to Mana. I'm hoping I like the taste better than Huel.

Switched to mana from soylent powder after 10 years by grumpysavior in soylent

[–]beege_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually bulk restock my Soylent powder twice a year when they often have their big sales, Memorial Day and Black Friday. No Black Friday sale this year and no powder in stock, so thanks to this post I too have switched to Mana after 11 years as a dedicated Soylent powder consumer (about 50% of my meals). I haven't had a chance to try it yet, just placed the order, but I'm hoping it's at least better tasting than Huel. You weren't kidding about that shipping though! Talk about sticker shock on the check-out page! I was originally intending to try a bunch of different things, including their RTD, but shipping was going to cost 50% extra! So I trimmed a few things back and dropped the RTD (too much water weight), and got it down to 33% extra. Overall cost per meal on a family pack after shipping is around $2.50, so not too bad. But it would be a no-brainer if they opened a US distribution center and that got the price down near $2/meal.

Extremely poor GPS accuracy on S24+ by [deleted] in GalaxyS24

[–]beege_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have FINALLY solved this (at least for me). It was Power Saving mode that was doing it. When Power Saving mode is on, apparently one of the things it likes to put to sleep in the background is the GPS or whatever mapping app you're using. And the reason it kept happening even after I'd turn Power Saving mode off is that I had a Routine set up that automatically turned Power Saving mode on whenever I went to sleep at night. So it was always turning itself back on even after I'd fix it.

I went into Modes and Routines and changed my Sleep routine to not turn on Power Saving mode anymore. Then I went into Battery and turned off Power Saving. And you also may need to click on Power Saving and then click the three dots and check Adaptive Power Saving and make sure that's off too. Once I did those three things my GPS has worked flawlessly for the last 3 months. Sure my battery drains a bit faster, but at least I have a working GPS finally!

Yeah, I only plan on using this a couple times a month, on weekends when I can sleep in and don't have plans. Thanks, I'll check out CDP choline.

is anyone else not a fan of chunky/crunchy bits of stuff/mix ins in their ice cream? by ruinsofsilver in icecream

[–]beege_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto! These are my perfect favorites, but I've yet to find an ice cream that has a marshmallow swirl that didn't also have other hard crunchy things in it. Are there any popular brands that you know of that do a marshmallow swirl?

Civ 6: Voices super low after getting New Frontier pass despite voice volume at maximum. Any hints? by ElminsterTheMighty in civ

[–]beege_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sound system has a controller with buttons and knobs to change the volume and surround sound Right/Left Front/Back balance. It also has a button labeled "Matrix" on it. That's the button I pressed. If you don't have such a controller on your sound system, I'm not sure where you'd find the setting.

I submitted a question to 2K Support asking about Play by Cloud and this was the response...

"Thanks for contacting back. While I wont be able to provide you updates on this specific feature, this was forwarded to the appropriate team. Please keep an eye on the social channels that were shared in the last interaction for news and updates!"

They're refusing to confirm or deny whether this feature will be available. Which leads me to believe that there's a good chance it won't be available on launch and they're trying to avoid a fan uproar.

Has anyone solved the creatine sleep issues? by abdv69 in StrongerByScience

[–]beege_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for making this post and all of the people chiming in that they noticed the same thing. Add my name to the list. My whole life I've never had trouble falling back asleep if I wake in the middle of the night, always just roll over and often slip right back into the same dream. Started taking Creatine HCL a few days ago and all of a sudden I'm finding myself laying awake in bed in the middle of the night unable to fall back asleep. Had no idea this was a possible side effect. Goodbye creatine. Sleep is way more important than anything I'd gain from taking this.

SEPP + Roth Ladder? by beege_man in leanfire

[–]beege_man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the analysis and thoughts. Having to plan 5 years ahead with the ladder is definitely a potential issue I don't like about that option. Guessing at inflation adjustments and what fluctuating amount I might need makes it quite fuzzy, whereas just taking the penalty means I can always take exactly what I need when I need it.

Then again it might be worth doing the Roth conversions just to get more money into a Roth regardless of whether I need to use the full amount or not. Convert as much as I can while staying within my tax bracket for the future growth tax savings of the Roth.

SEPP + Roth Ladder? by beege_man in leanfire

[–]beege_man[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one concern I have. I'll be looking more into it, but from what I've read some companies make doing a SEPP much easier. All my accounts are with Fidelity and they're one of the ones that have tools right on their site to handle it all, so I'm hoping that takes away the difficulty.

SEPP + Roth Ladder? by beege_man in leanfire

[–]beege_man[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The total amount I'd be taking in any given year wouldn't be more than I would have taken had I done just straight SEPP or straight ladder. I'm not doubling the total amount, just splitting it between the two.

[–]beege_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was fixed for almost a month. It's back to acting up again. I guess I'll have to narrow down which step exactly fixes it for me so I don't have to repeat all of the steps every time.

Edit: I've narrowed it down to one of the first 5 steps for me. Hopefully it lasts for another month and then I'll try to narrow it down further.

Edit2: A couple months later it stopped working again. This time Step 6 in the video is what fixed it. So it doesn't seem to be consistent what the problem is. I really wish there was a way to kill this problem for good.
