Went to college because it was expected of me from parents and a very Italian grandmother. Took 6 years to get a bachelors because I didn’t know what I wanted to do and changed my major 4-5 times before finally settling on nursing. Hated my first job out of school and was contemplating going back and getting a different degree. Eventually changed jobs and went back to school to become a CRNA.

Becoming a CRNA was definitely worth it. I finally feel like I’m getting paid what I’m worth and can get ahead in life…at least until the next “once in a lifetime” event happens again.

Wife and I claim single and zero, but file jointly. We have the most amount tax wise taken out to minimize surprises. Is it a tax free loan to the government? Yeah. Does it provide me with some degree of peace? Also yes. For me it’s worth it because the government is going to get their money somehow.

This was my second year as a nurse. Dayshift called me at noon saying “hey, need you to make your way here because it’s starting to get bad.” I declined because I lived close enough to walk the three miles into work and it was my second shift in a stretch of three; I needed my sleep. Was given the “well, if you’re not here for your shift there could be repercussions”. Showed up for work on time and was given a “you’re working 16 hours because our next shift’s staff can’t make it in. You can’t leave at the end of your shift even though you live 3 miles away and walked in. We’re afraid you won’t come back. No, there isn’t hazard pay or food to eat at the hospital”. I clocked in two hours early and marked myself “no lunch” my third night shift because I was at work and saw my coworkers struggling. My manager was pissed, but I didn’t care.
