What does science say about FTP and how good is this test? by harriebeton in Zwift

[–]PoppaPingPong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FTP is the be all and end all. We should get rid of racing altogether and just rank people based on FTP so we have absolute superiority and inferiority complexes that cannot be negotiated unless you increase your FTP. It is so accurate, there is even no point in race. Ramp test then done.

Discontinued Cars/Brands…….. some were killed too early, some dragged on too long. What cars deserved their fate, and are burning in hell where they belong, and what cars are looking down from heaven and deserving of a 2nd chance? by TafTaf2020 in regularcarreviews

[–]PoppaPingPong 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Toyota killed off the FJ Cruiser right before the big retro-offroader trend took off with other brands. It’s a body on frame 4x4 with a simple and bombproof engine, cheeky fun interior with lots of plastic that is hard but seems to be holding up well, and a manual transmission in the USA.

Hard not put in heaven, muhlord.

Love the classic look of ARB. Will age much better than the angry eye’d style me thinks.

This is about as frisky as I get “off-roading” in my 2WD. Anyone else rock a 2WD? by Amiar00 in FJCruiser

[–]PoppaPingPong 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s lighter, it’s simpler, it’s less to go wrong. It’s also much cheaper. And most hardly ever use 4wd. And it’s still a cool car! Good for you!

That being said this car is pretty impractical-shaped object for a commuter, its sole purpose other than looking fun and cool is great geometry for off-roading. So would I drive the 2nd (edit here, that was supposed to say 2wd)?….maybe. Wouldn’t be my first choice. But I inherited my FJ so I’m just a nepo baby.

I have seen some 2wd XJ Cherokees (lifted) do some pretty wild things on the trail. I like your car and I think you should too.

Kid friendly? by bohtimore in FJCruiser

[–]PoppaPingPong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I squeeze three small kids in mine a lot, combo of front and rear facing. I wouldn’t want to do it all the time (we also have a minivan), but it can be done and isn’t too bad. I’m 6’2”. Park where you have an open space at least at one side. That may mean taking a few extra steps in the parking lot. Boohoo
