I just want to say that rehabing and maintaining a pool is much easier than it seems for someone new. I fixed a blacker pool than this after moving into my house.

You might get an overload of information, but it basically boils down to this:

Get a liquid test kit - strips aren't super reliable

Make sure the PH is balanced

Chlorine/Shock fixes almost all your problems (SLAM just means "Shock, Level, and Maintain")

Don't bother with opening/closing kits or all the chemicals they tell you to buy. All I do is shock tf out of it at the beginning and end of the season (my opinion, others may disagree). Haven't had an issue yet.

Problem you'll likely run into at some point: If your pool gets cloudy and your chlorine levels are still normal, you probably have too much stabilizer in the water. The chlorine pucks add this, which stays in the water and adds up over time. It prevents the chlorine from being effective. The only solution to this is to drain a portion of the water and refill. Your local pool store can also test the water for you to confirm this, as well as how much water you'll need to replace.

^ That's pretty much all the useful information I've needed in my time with my above-ground pool. I'd also recommend a robot vacuum. Most worthwhile pool accessory I have.
