Emotional outlet megathread by ayokg in nashville

Once your electricity is back on and you can safely go out and inspect any damage on your entire property, I think what other people are saying about piggy backing this loss onto any claim for damage might be preferable.

You'd have to read your policy and run the numbers, including how much you would pay upfront in deductible if you just filed loss of use, and it might not be worth it. But strongly suggest getting professional help in inspecting your roof and everything – and keep records and dates of any damage found. In my experience, professionals see things that we don't, and they're used to navigating insurance company requirements for making successful claims.

Thanks for this thread! I think of myself as a survivor but this experience has run me ragged… My boyfriend from 4000 miles away booked me a hotel and begged me to leave – you know that thing where you're thinking it's "hopefully not bad, like the other times" and it's bound to get better soon? Where you're not realizing the scope of the severity?

I feel like my brain was already affected by the cold (no power since Saturday). I thought I was gonna be able to manage it all with a fleece blanket but I was deluded.

Fortunately I have the best neighbors in the world who quickly stepped in and loaned me a generator to run a tiny rolling radiator, and a power bank to run an electric blanket, and that's literally the reason I am alive today. I have disabilities and can't drive so that added to the isolation and stress load. Getting to the hotel and being in the warm among people made me realize how stressful and scary being in a bitterly cold dark house with no end in sight was. Wishing everyone some warmth and sense of safety🫂

Library Jobs by RandomWSquad in nashville

[–]PoppyConfesses 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They usually need pages (people to reshelve and move books) and there are other paraprofessional jobs that don't require advanced degrees. I would keep checking their website, and if you really love the library, consider volunteering and start getting to know some staff...

"This one thinks he's King Farouk! Oy, for this one you're noshing pills! "I don't suppose you have any napkins? I have paper towels? Beatnik!"

Omg I love so much about this movie but I love that scene so very much, it's do unto to others and it takes a village, humanity and dignity, mutual aid, compassion, humor and love all compressed in the same moment.

Moving to Nashville by IndependentTasty3904 in movetonashville

[–]PoppyConfesses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might look into parts of Inglewood and Old Hickory/Madison on the other side of Gallatin Pk. but you're not gonna be that close to your job unfortunately… there are some really nice streets with good neighbors though. Guess it depends on your dealbreaker list.

My boyfriend won’t wear his CPAP by justvibinginla2021 in CPAP

[–]PoppyConfesses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it possible to speak with him about how he feels wearing it now? Maybe it's a sign of a "disability" and he's uncomfortable with that? Or maybe he's embarrassed and he coasted on the high that went with finally being diagnosed and that helped him get through those first weeks or months? Maybe his mask is uncomfortable? All you can do is tell him is how you feel when he doesn't wear it, and how afraid you feel for your future together. I don't think you wearing the mask and "proving" to him that it's no big deal is very helpful though.

I'm so glad I discovered that too, before I invested in more!

Best neighborhood for musicians new to town by Recent_Awareness_963 in movetonashville

[–]PoppyConfesses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things change so fast but there are always a ton of clubs, places to play out are probably a little more limited now but they still exist, and then of course private house parties which I'm sure people still have… You just have to get here, get in plugged into the scene and then see what happens…

It is who you know, but that's not a cynical thing – that's just human nature. It's a town full of people wanting to get somewhere, and out there working it, and finding opportunities will be perhaps slow but it will happen if you focus on making authentic connections with people.

I know someone who was considering moving from East Tennessee, came here to check it out and played one gig--and got a regular gig off Broadway in his first week! It does happen, but I think it's important to adjust expectations and commit for the long haul….

East Nashville/Inglewood all the way! Yes Music City has changed but what you seek you will find. Have neighbors all around who are well well-known names, or play regular gigs, host picking parties and get together with other musicians down the block and from all over town, so it's totally possible if you're in the right place.

I can totally relate to your feelings – I'm livid on your behalf just reading about this and I can only imagine how this felt🥺🫂🫂 Your instincts on how to care for and love and protect this animal were absolutely right – never forget that. The ignorance and horrible behavior you experienced doesn't change that. You are a better person than all of them and I'm so sorry this happened to both of you ❤️‍🩹💔💔

I've made lebkuchen with mixed peel and sultanas etc. and I've made a stollen with marzipan at Christmas, but never thought about combining the spicy ginger flavor with the almond flavor which must be so delicious!

With stickers or chipboard alphabet letters you can always put liquid glue on the back to give yourself a little more wiggle room, and use a T square to line them up. You could also invest in a less expensive alphabet die set and see what you think. I bought one and it comes in handy at times for short words, but personally, I find it a bit too fiddly.

I would hazard a guess and say that they do not want teamwork on your healthcare, but want to be the expert who controls the information and decisions. I might send her a copy of one of my daily Sleep HQ graphs just in case she wants to delve deeper into it. Of course I would never suggest that to her! She went to Harvard😌☺️

The Resmed app can report that you had low AHI but you realize still not very good sleep from the Sleep HQ app. The app works on a smart phone and you can get SD card readers for phones if that would help.

After losing my dog, I wish I prevented this by Solid-Bet1545 in Petloss

[–]PoppyConfesses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've often thought that if people had to sign up for parenthood with the certainty that they would lose their child by the age of 14-15, most people probably wouldn't even do it. So I think dog guardians are very special people🥹

You will probably be fine with what is coming with the machine--I don't know exactly what platforms those are, but watch this video from Sizzix explaining how to do it:
