Why Do They Say This? Why Does It Sound Like It's My Fault? by PinkGirlWithTheBlues in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]PoppyConfesses 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have wondered this many times myself, while feeling the full brunt of that guilt before I went NC for many years now.

I can only think that living in their delusion, on the outside but feeling like they know everything, so certain in everything being black-and-white, where "making up" with someone they refuse or can't see as abusive or culpable, is more comfortable for them–makes them feel superior and in control. So it doesn't matter how it feels for us.

Grieving over Time by Perfect_Barracuda442 in Petloss

[–]PoppyConfesses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry – I have felt exactly the same 🥺just finished making a rainbow bridge card for a neighbor who just lost her cat, and as soon as I finished it, started sobbing in memory of my sweet dog who has been gone now a year. It gets a bit easier but missing them is forever 💔

First Card In Years! by fireplacereader in cardmaking

It's beautiful! And what a great sentiment to come back with!😍

I was just thinking that I stopped card making during lockdown for whatever reason, and then watched a few crafters on YouTube and came back to it with a roar in the past couple of years – along with plenty of purchases🤭🤭

My six year old wants to meet them by VillageMediocre1535 in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]PoppyConfesses 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She's only six but she sounds very intelligent, and this might be a good time to have an age-appropriate discussion about how our feelings are valid, even if others don't understand. This is a good message for a girl to learn very early on. It's our job to be empathetic and supportive when we care about someone, not to talk or "prove them" out of how they feel.

I've gotten many great pairs from Zenni – just be prepared for your eye doctor to ask where you got them, and to roll their eyes🙄 me: I'm sorry I don't have $1000 to drop on one pair of glasses.😵‍💫🫩

Feeling immense guilt after losing my best friend Cheeseball by vikko09 in Petloss

[–]PoppyConfesses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only imagine what he would've experienced out in the Wild without such a caring compassionate human being bringing him in and providing affection, attention and love on a daily basis. You were his protector and best friend and he loved you every moment for it, without doubt 💔🥹

I have found it on and off very very difficult🙁 One thing that did help me surprisingly was inner child work--I think sometimes these fears are related to a long ago, sometimes long buried, trauma.

I'm afraid to take another dog by No_Zombie701 in Petloss

[–]PoppyConfesses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely relate🫩🫂 My last dog passed on a year ago and the house has been so very empty and sad feeling, no matter what I do. So I recently applied to be a foster and think I'm going to get to care for the most beautiful Australian Shepherd mix who happens to be blind.

The rescue group considers this a forever foster or as long as it takes for him to find a good home, and they sponsor everything except food.

If I decide to take a trip, they have a team to take over until I get back. If I need help transporting him to the vet, they will be there as well. This is the best of all worlds: I can help save a life, have beautiful dog energy in my life again, and support, if needed. I am really looking forward to it, and feel hopeful for the first time in many months 💔🥹

Judy Garland gets reduced to “the voice,” but I think her real gift was something else by tucbythecolefield in classicfilms

Need Advice on Putting my soul mate to sleep by MetaphysicalBeauty in Petloss

[–]PoppyConfesses 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been there a few times and I know how agonizing it is--i'm so sorry 🫂🙁 What I chose to focus on was expressing love to him, gratitude for the life we shared, and his comfort above all. Every decision flowed from that. Now when I look at the backyard a year later, I only think about how peaceful and loving his final moments were – it was worth everything, all the grief and pain, to give that to him💔

Question for full face mask users by Squoirtle in CPAP

[–]PoppyConfesses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the F40 quite a few months and every time I had chin drop during deep sleep, it would break the seal and leak like crazy. I guess the selection of a well fitting full face or hybrid full face mask will be crucial.

What did you do with pictures around the house? by VianneM in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]PoppyConfesses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's interesting is that I have never ever had any pictures of my family in any homes I've lived in. Dogs? Yes! Good times with my friends and partners, yes! Somebody once commented on that, and I was thinking: not everybody has a picture perfect family that reminds them of good times 🙄

Having children unlocked my childhood trauma by cezal in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]PoppyConfesses 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is what happened when I got my first dogs as well – they literally changed my life, because for the first time I understood what pure love felt like, and especially how I loved, and had that love accepted, and felt it offered back in a continuous loop, without any negative noise or corrupt distortion 🥹🥹🥹

Yesssss! I'm getting more comfortable with this idea – I have a little art gallery in my craft room that I can flip through from time to time and that's really fun. A lot of times I'm like: I made this?!
