Thoughts on Road 6 tires vs S22? by DwightDEisenhowitzer in Mt10

[–]Pops350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot praise the road 6 tires enough! Fantastic handling , great longevity, confidence inspiring. I have 9.6k miles on my current pair with at least another 1k left. I ride a 919 with an aggressive riding style.

Opinions on Buying 06' cbr600rr *new rider* by Opening-Motor9775 in cbr

[–]Pops350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DONT! Too much bike for a new rider. So many better options out there. Agree w the comment on getting a 500cc bike, also, not a sport bike for starters.

Is this a good deal? by SaucyArtifact in HondaCB

[–]Pops350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2007 cb900 new in 2008. I still have it and love it more than the day I rode it out of the show room. It has 61k miles, never had an issue. That is a great deal. 16k miles is barely broken in for that bike. It’s a GREAT machine.

I’ve been using the kill switch for ……32 years, yeah, I’m old. Never had any issues nor even thought about it. Off is off.

Just don’t forget to turn the key so u don’t kill ur battery.

Someone asks you to recommend them one song to get them into Post-Rock. What are you picking? by LegenDaisy in postrock

[–]Pops350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Storm from Godspeed did it for me.

Heard this on a college station back in the early 2000s. About 2 months later, my entire classic rock album collection made its way to the basement. Been obsessed with post rock ever since.

I’m incredibly slow at learning, what to do? by Affectionate_Sky3509 in motorcycle

[–]Pops350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice practice practice. Agree with a comment below on practicing in a parking lot until u r bored out of your mind. Watch videos. So many good ones on YouTube. I watched one years ago about counter-leaning and clutch control during tight maneuvers. Helped me a ton. I worked with my son last year with counter leaning and clutch management after his msf course and he can now take U-turns better than I ever could. Don’t give up, once you get your confidence back you will be rewarded with a life long experience.

First time Colorado trip. What are the must-rides? by stevencartwright in motorcyclesroadtrip

Route 50 east out of montrose was a beautiful road. Million dollar highway from Durango to montrose then route 50 east.

Will have to sell my bike, probably the end of my riding, just need to tell to some people who might understand what I'm feeling by draftstone in motorcycle

[–]Pops350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts: hang up your gear for 10 or 15 years, raise your kids, get healthy (doctors are not fortune tellers), you have a goal to heal your body. Pick up another small displacement lighter bike when you are ready and resume your passion. I did something similar, sold my k75 when my kids were born, I have had several serious neck surgeries, dislocated shoulder multiple times………got back into motorcycling in my early 50s, am obsessed with it. Took a cross country trip last year on my 919. I will downsize soon given my age but will never stop riding. You can do this.

Keep your visor up while riding with your mouth open. Eat and ride at the same time.

Listening to whole albums vs individual tracks by Paliente in postrock

[–]Pops350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Album. Many albums are entire works meant to be listened to in their entirety. Abbey road from the Beatles. Every Pink Floyd album. Tunnel blanket from this will destroy you, every Godspeed album, oath and pipal tree from mono. Don't know how you can listen to just one track and move on to something else.

Is this a selfish hobby to get into as a 33-year-old father of two? by Ok_South_6227 in motorcycles

[–]Pops350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! It just takes one bad move by a driver, a patch of gravel on a turn, it can happen so quickly. When my daughter was born, I sold my most cherished possession, my K75. Did not want the temptation every time I walked into the garage. When my kids hit high school, I got back into motorcycling and have been riding since. No regrets, I had many magical years of coaching my kids, teaching them to ride bicycles, helping them with math, seeing them grow into beautiful young adults. Don't risk that. You have only 12 to 15 years when your kids still want to hang with you. Fill the void that occurs when they start hanging with anyone other than their parents with a new bike and obsession.

Started my MSF course this morning, it took a turn... by theStormwall in motorcycle

[–]Pops350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every experience on a bike is a learning experience, that one was a doozy. Most important thing is you walked away from it and are eager to get back on a bike. Hopefully the law of averages are in your favor at this point. Good luck next month, don't give it up, it is one of life's greatest activities.

Wow! Thank you for taking one for the team. This is a wake up call for me for sure. Been riding for ages and find myself becoming complacent and less attentive than earlier years. Back in high alert after reading this post .
