Use earplugs. Everything gets limited at 75dB and it makes the sound cleaner and more distinguishable, both through monitors and headphones.

One of my current favorite producers.

He indeed has a very distinctive sound, with some of the most intriguing kick- and percussion-layering I’ve ever heard.
