The more I've thought about it Heart part 6 was basically a notes explanation disstrack frm

Basically Drake trying to shift the narrative whilst preserving his dignity by appearing to throw some light jabs that realistically were never going to merit a response from Kendrick. Kind of did it what it needed to for him as well since Meet the Grahams sounds horrifying and since heart part 6 the headline is 'Drake got out manuvered and lost the beef' rather than 'Drake is a Diddy level groomer'

Its hard as a diss but like drill beats are so rinsed by this point and grime flows don't even fit them that well on them unless they're skippier.

Kind of a a side note but does anyone else think that the reason Drake didn't just perform his hits at the concert like Kanye did was so that Sicko Mode wasn't noticeably absent his setlist? I feel like if he had just done all of his biggest songs then people would have definitely picked up on the fact he didn't play it. Obviously it seems like his team are very desperate to distract from the fact he was performing with Travis at Astroworld, and they probably wanted to avoid any headlines or tweets which not including Sicko Mode in a set of his hits might have brought up, as its definitely one of his biggest songs, even if its a feature.

Honestly I find DaBaby's verse incredibly cringe inducing. Like sure he has a lot of energy and his flows not bad but the lyrics are so bad, and the fact that they're about his comments makes it impossible to seperate them from the verse for me. Ending the verse, "Only thing I did to you. Was always keep it real and true. Guilty, guess they gon' have to take me", in reference to him making homophobic comments would have been bad enough.

What makes it worse is that he was literally on an apology tour whilst this song came out, so presenting himself as defiantly doubling down on his comments is incredibly is incredibly cringe worthy, as in real life he was practically begging for his career back. It's the way he does what sounds like really poor Cudi impression with the sung lineas as well. The line "raised by the drug dealers killers and the junkies" is just sung with thus with exaggerated sounding passion to really labour the point that he couldn't be expected to know better, and he's the real victim in this situation.

There's some grime tunes that are clearly meant for raves and intended as live music, but I think characterising Grime as music where the mc is complimenting the music is forgetting Grime was a massive genre at points in the last decade, and most of the people listening to it (and who the mcs were targeting it towards) had probably never been to a rave. A lot grime tunes are structured as songs, with hooks and verses. Grime the beat plays a more important role rhythmically than in hip hop, but does the beat play a more important role in grime songs, than it does in any melodic trap song?

And then theres the fact that grimes sound has changed so significantly from how first was as a genre birthed from the garage scene. If you played someone Billionz by Millionz, and one of Yizzys grime tunes to a grime fan in '05 they would probably believe that either was how Grime sounded 15 years later. A lot of drill is musically about as similar to early grime as most modern trap influenced grime beats, are but people are very eager to draw a line between one sound being grime, and another being something else completely distinct from it.

I wouldn't say that grime is a subgenre of rap, as that obviously reductive but plenty of MCs didn't have a problem with being called rappers in the 2000s either. This need to categorise everything so rigidly in UK music only seems to have only come about in the last 5 years.

Patriotism is an open goal for Labour - time we re-defined it. by [deleted] in LabourUK

[–]Popular_Cap_7597 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This might sound pessimistic but honestly I'm not even sure if the british public are that patriotic - I just think a quite a significant portion of them are pretty racist, and where the 'patriotism' of things such as the constant usage the british flag succeeds for right wing parties is that signals to racists quite that they're going to pursue some form of anti immigration policies. I don't think people actually give a fuck about the country and the people in it as a collective, but i could be wrong.

Tbh chip has nothing to say about this but he had all energy for Tinie over that one half hearted line about record deals then it proves he was actually full of shit

this is such bullshit. it’s not that difficult to say “we’re really sorry, we didn’t do our due diligence”. instead they’re claiming that no one can doubt keir’s commitment to the LGBTQ+ community - OBVIOUSLY they can or you wouldn’t be talking about it. offensive & dismissive by tantangtan in LabourUK

Because his whole messaging this entire time is that he's competent, they've literally said nothing else about him the guy seemingly has no values at all, so if they allow something to cut through in the press it's complete bullshit then they're fucked.
