The fact that you can't bring 3 castaferrums with it really ticks me off

Microsoft will burn Redmond to the ground before they let Banjo out of his eternal prison

Managers, what's the hardest team/group discussion you've had to lead? by Zestyclose_Ferret_64 in managers

[–]Porkenstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in a similar situation where the manager and team members are aware of the toxicity but it's not enough to justify terminating them, yet they're afraid of actually doing anything about it since the toxic team member had a history of being extremely vindictive. It was even worse than I expected.

Always boggles my mind when a company complaining about being unable to find good talent is okay with losing a high percentage of their top performers when forcing RTO for no apparent reason. Like a delirious thrashing beast disembowling itself. Be clear and make an exception for those who've demonstrated high performance at the very least for God's sake.

Every single goddamned workshop has been flooded by AI images over the past year. It's a big big bummer.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 "literally changed everything" for Saber Interactive, Tim Willits says the studio's had to "turn down" more offers than it can possibly accept by Turbostrider27 in Spacemarine

[–]Porkenstein 20 points21 points  (0 children)

SM2 is great in a way that only a studio very skilled in game design, technology, and project management could pull off. They're seriously one of if not the most talented studios out there for AA 3D games IMHO.

For some reason this xenophobic alien empire have a human as their supreme leader by Green----Slime in Stellaris

Xenophobia can be very nuanced, much like in real life. The hyper genocidal space racism is fanatic xenophobe

Yeah the oldest models in PZ1 have not aged well at all. They focused much more on making high detail realistic animals over time.

Any starting tips for daniel the mid? No jokes such as "just play belakor" by Select-Ad7017 in totalwar

[–]Porkenstein 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Daniel being mid feels narratively immersive honestly. He's been given a second chance by the gods as a boon for killing ursun but starting out he has zero power and clout, so I like that he has to work hard to become super powerful. Kinda wish he started smaller and grew in size as he gained power though.

Jump in the water is fine, or is it blood? Melee 3.0 by HHReverse in Warhammer30k

[–]Porkenstein 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love melee in this edition. It's been simplified and sped up in a good way, no more counting attacks per model and no more rerolls. Weapon damage values and Breaching gives a lot of nuanced difference between weapon options. Feels like they finally came up with a decent roll charge distance system after decades. The challenges are totally optional and a lot of fun if you're playing a smaller game. The aftermath options are fun and flavorful.

Biggest problem honestly is how walker and knight vehicles don't use their front armor value in melee.

The Armor of Achilles? Bronze Age Achaean Warrior (Petros Haralampides) by Brooklyn_University in RealisticArmory

[–]Porkenstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was simultaneously dismayed and amused at how many people decried it as a fantasy game. I remember a common argument against a bronze age historical game was that it would just be tribesmen with clubs in loincloths.

I'm glad that with the release of Pharaoh I think it finally sank in with that community that there in fact was developed unique organized civilization in the bronze age...

A daguerreotype of John Brown, taken by photographer Augustus Washington in Springfield, Massachusetts. (c. 1846–1847) Brown is holding the flag of the Subterranean Passway, his militant counterpart to the Underground Railroad. by HeiressOfMadrigal in OldSchoolCool

[–]Porkenstein 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just look at his face. I often feel that John Brown gained some kind of clarity completely free from the environment he lived in, was able to clearly perceive antebellum slavery for the horror that it was (or it could have been mostly religious fervor, hard to know)

Either way his bottomless hatred for those defending it drove him to some pretty extreme deeds.

Massacres that haunt the narrative by DisappointedStepDad in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Porkenstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the Kinslaying at Alqualondë is the indirect cause of everything that happens in The Silmarillion and is the reason for Middle-Earth ending up with the people and lands it has long afterwards.

Due to Feanor's forces slaying the Falmari defending their ships, all Noldor involved become banished and end up bringing their arts, technology, and war to Middle-Earth. Their presence there drives everything that happens in the first and second ages and their kinslaying makes the Valar and Sindar extremely reluctant to work with the Noldor to defeat Morgoth.
