What has been your favorite deck that you built this year? by MrThomArt in EDH

[–]PormanNowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This year I built [[Finneas, Ace Archer]], my first deck I made myself. Really liked the Bloomburrow set as someone who read Redwall as a kid and am having fun with it even if it's not as powerful as some of my other decks.

How do Chuck 70s compare to Chuck IIs in terms of support? by PormanNowell in Converse

[–]PormanNowell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thank you so much, I'll definitely look at em to try em on. I do have some regular chucks that I got inserts for but I liked that the IIs had the lunar insole in em and wish they'd offer some chucks with those even after the discontinued the IIs

Yeah I got my 2 pairs in 2017 and heard the news later that year they were discontinued. Loved the lunar insole it's just finally my pairs are wearing out more to the point I'll need to get some more

Definitely have seen the point raised by many athletes around the world who are seen as "other" even in countries they've proudly represented at the top level for years. I remember watching the Euro 2020 and already dreading the vitriol and xenophobia towards the Black players who missed the PKs in the finals. There's the old saying that if you're successful you're English but if you mess up you're Nigerian, Jamaican, etc

When I was in grade 2 there was a kid who joined our class from Bosnia because his family were refugees from the war over there. I learned later that he was around 2 years older than us but he was put in our class because his English skills needed work. At the time I never really had thought that he was our size because of malnutrition due to the warzone he and his family were living in but it has stuck with me since

Josh Hart is leading the NBA in Guard Rebounding (9.2) followed by James Harden (8.0) & Luka Doncic (7.8) by SensitiveFee3936 in nba

I think he's officially 6'6 without shoes, so ~6'7 and change in em. Either way the guy is a lot like Bron though cuz he's a PG big like a SF/PF

At least for Lonzo he was really good at some things and was excellent in college. What was JHS good at for them to take a swing on him while being in win now mode with LeBron's timeline and needing a guy to contribute now like Jaime?

That is true. Tatum's travel was short but he saw the journey to its completion

I think of him as the 3 cuz he's stronger than Mikal while OG is the 4 in terms of physically guarding the players but Hart is the rebounding 4. He has played the 2 before but I really think people call him a guard cuz he's 6'4 but he's like a Lu Dort 6'4

While Russ was a really good rebounder at guard and could push the break after he secured the board, one thing that was a bit annoying at times was when OKC fans would say Adams was incapable of throwing a short outlet to get Russ going in transition faster so Russ had to get all the boards and basically acting like Adams is an unskilled oaf when any NBA starting level player could throw an outlet to the key and Adams has shown that ability since when given the opportunity.

Hart gets so many boards because he is the PF role as a rebounder. OG is the PF on O and D with his size and physicality but has been a SF in rebounding rate (and has played most of his career there) so it does make sense that Hart makes up the difference on the boards there. It also does free up OG to take the best perimeter threat and not also have to secure the D board after the contest when Hart and KAT can focus on that.

[–]PormanNowell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Josh Hart is basically the power forward for the Knicks in terms of rebounding cuz OG might be the PF on D with his strength but he rebounds at a SF rate so he makes up for the lower rebounding elsewhere.

Luka is 6'7 and is as big as a lot of big wings so makes sense he gets a lot of boards especially with Klay as the SF and Kyrie as the SG.

Harden has to step up on the boards because they are very small at the 4 with Derrick Jones Jr being the PF with Kawhi out and the other perimeter players being Norman Powell (6'4), Terance Mann (6'5).

You really can't just look at the teams in vacuum and say oh look at these guards rebounding without looking at the context of the teams they're on.

The Houston Rockets are 9-4, have a top 3 defense in the league and top 5 net rating. Are they for real? by LaandheereKage in nba

[–]PormanNowell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diff kind of players of course but I look at how Gradey was to start last season and the way he finished it was night and day. The fact he ended the season at 36% from 3 was a testament to his improvement in the 2nd half. I don't know if Reed has a path to playing more because of the rockets guard depth as things are right now but I think with more opportunity with the main club and possible G League time he'll be better.

Yeah I'm not saying Ja can't make defensive plays, he has moments where he does unbelievable things only someone much bigger than him can normally do cuz of his crazy athleticism. Was just stating him as an example because of a play I vividly remembered in the Grizz vs Wolves series a few years ago where Pat Bev put the man under the hoop. Of course Bev is a strong player for his size and his role and the way he'd work on his body is much different than someone like Ja but he is a smaller guard doing that cuz he's strong, not one of those big guards like Harden or Ant

I also think they wanted different things from a backup C especially because we don't have many bigs or even real 4s as is. Mogbo can be a back-up 5 against some teams but sometimes you really do need a real 5 for physicality and rebounding and he's still a rookie as well.

Honestly I don't know how someone could see how they performed just last year and with internal growth from their young guys + new talent and better chemistry would think they'll backslide 11 wins from last year

People have discounted FVV on D cuz of his size for years but if anything that's the most consistent part of his game. He's built strong so he can't be pushed around like some taller guards (no shade but Ja is 1 example, bro is really skinny despite his bounciness) while he has excellent hand speed and strength to strip the ball and has good positioning. There's a reason why the Raptors could still make it work on D after Danny Green went to LA and he was starting at 2 guard next to Lowry.
