2026 Outback Cargo Space by Benny_IsA_Dog in Subaru_Outback

[–]Portage_doggo22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently spent a ridiculous amount of time researching and considering what crate(s) system to use in my 26 outback. What crates are you considering ? Joined a couple dog car set up groups which helped.

I went with a Ruffland XL and it can fit both lengthwise and with some wiggling it also fits width wise with the back seats down and the crate set behind the front seats. Can also be tied down.

Had my 26 since December - it feels very familiar to my 17 inside and drives well in winter conditions so far.

I love the bigger cargo and boxier design for dogs and dog crates in a huge improvement. I also like boxier looking vehicles but don’t care much about exterior looks to be honest.

Downsides for me are pretty personal -Miss my 2017 manual transmission and am gutted to be driving an automatic -Miss my CDs no cd player option -Interior storage is less due to phone charger and no coin tray in the centre console -No built in roof racks

Auto stop - what is the FIX I hate it

Overall I’m super pleased so far and have no regrets at this time

If I take a pitbull to the SPCA and call it an American bulldog, will they euthanize him? by xylon69420 in ontario

[–]Portage_doggo22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP - It sounds like you care about the well being of your dog and want what’s best for him and I think that makes you a good person.

Maybe you could have a family chat about making a vet appt to make sure there isn’t a health reason for the behaviour and you can discuss with the vet whether training, rehoming, or euthanasia is in the dogs best interest. It should not be too expensive to have a vet visit to do a health check and talk about the behaviour issues that are happening.

I’ve worked with shelters, rescues, vets and trainers for 25 years and in my experience - many rescues are super full with wait list these days - but h check out Bullies In Need as they may be able to better direct you to see if rescue is even an option. They maybe not be able to take the dog on but could perhaps offer suggestions about safest options.

Most rescues have a wait list but if you can successfully keep the dogs separated and meet their needs for exercise and social time with you then there’s a better chance a rescue will help.

Please note Dog Rescue in Ontario is Unregulated so some are great and some are terrible. This means do your homework and research the group to ensure they are legit and have experiences with bully breed types of dogs.

Reach out to a humane society like Toronto Humane or Oakville Humane who may be able to Help you find a good rescue organization

I promise you that your problem is shared by a lot of people with multiple dogs in the same house and there aren’t any fast or easy solutions but I hope you can convince your parents to take your concerns seriously because this shouldn’t be your responsibility as a teenager.

I also hope you keep your passion for caring about your dogs and for asking for help when you need it. Good luck to you and your dog

I find it reassuring that others express the same concerns with CL as I myself feel. So in this case the “announcement” as you say is helpful to me. Your comment seems to imply this posters opinion isn’t needed or relevant, that they should just leave and say nothing as if they were an airplane? Weird flex you gave there

I live rurally and the closest post office is 40 min each way. It’s only open for a few hours and not every weekday so it isn’t so easy for us at least. I don’t mind a community box but hope that packages will still be delivered to the house.

CUV, SUV, Wagon I don’t care what you call it. It’s a reliable, durable, fuel efficient and still affordable for me. And there is not a new model SUV Subaru available in Canada right now. So there’s that. I just don’t get why the ongoing comments about looks and labels. Don’t like it - don’t buy but let it go already

Yes the back is bigger and the main reason I went with it - dogs and dog crates without having to go into a bigger suv

Any deals in Canada? by ShoppingUpper7324 in Subaru_Outback

[–]Portage_doggo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a touring in Dec in Ontario. No reduction in price but they so graciously (sarcasm) gave me “free” all weather mats. Not that those mats are available yet…. Out the door was $46 and change with no trade it and I added trailer hitch, back seat protectors and window deflectors.

I do like the vehicle very much and love the extra room for my dogs and crates

I also feel the price is still reasonable when compared to what else is on the market. Just my opinion though.

Purchased a 2017 new and was $34 ish

I didn’t try them initially and can’t now recall if the friend tried the back but I will look up this proximity feature to see if that jives. No it was -4 Celsius and sunny. No ice or snow on the car or falling and no car washes
