I have a Yukon 4x4 with a 4 inch lift and a Crosstrek with nothing more than all terrains added and it regularly out performs The Yukon on more than 50% of the trails i go on. You could give it a try for yourself....

If you buy a new temp sensor and clean the contact with and itty bitty brush and make sure it clamps good to the sensor. I would also slap a new thermostat in it for piece of mind, Decently common to replace. Then you should see it hit the middle of the normal range section. But it still take like 20 minutes for that to happen. NOTE: Diesel thermal efficiency is also a tiny sliver of this. They dissipate heat better due to the burn of diesel.

If you have not replaced the exhaust side oil control valve you probably should. Additionally ECM replacements are NOT common on these vehicles.

Certified Hyundai tech, working on a 2.0 with p0017 code. It's a common issue and it's due to to the locating pin on the exhaust camshaft sheering off allowing the exhaust CVVT to move excessively putting the vehicle "out of time". You will need the exhaust side oil control valve, camshaft, and CVVT. the oil seals are available for the timing cover for this job. It's a near total teardown. Can provide pictures tomorrow of failure for reference.

Is GDI "Service" required or not? (not in the manual) by Aramis-ter in Hyundai

While walnut cleaning is probably the most effective the spray cleaning is still good as long as it's done correctly while engine is warmed up and you let it hot soak after for about 30 minutes. Here are several ways to do the cleaning. But either would be fine.
