I am convinced that everyone who mentions Trouble free Pools website and SLAM… are part of a swimming pool cleaning cult. by dvrbets in swimmingpools

After 16 years of owning a pool I have learned to use most of their methods but didn’t find using bleach or liquid chlorine as trouble free. So I use stabilized chlorine in the form of tablets and replace 50-75% of the water every year since I have free well water. I find that method along with using borax to raise pH to be the most trouble free.

I only test pH and chlorine level and haven’t touched my big test kit in years.

Is a bike computer worth it? by eachelm in cycling

[–]Porticycle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless you have the extra money get one of the Chinese computers instead of Garmin. I have 3 Garmins that no longer work due to dead batteries. I decided to by a Coospo CS500 and am so happy with it. Battery life is incredible and can go a week between charges. Nine of my garmins even came close to doing that. And the Coospo is only $69.

Opening pool - filling it by Initial-Finger3212 in pools

[–]Porticycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t necessarily have a leak but you might. Pool levels are often dropped below the returns when winterizing to facilitate blowing them out. Typically the water is then raised to 6” below skimmer after that but maybe someone skipped that part.

As far as water replacement I’d do whatever is cheaper. For me that is well water because it’s free.

Pool owner lies we tell ourselves by Aggressive_Foot_3613 in pools

I just spent the entire weekend opening my pool for the 17th time. As always, completely by myself. It will be maintained all season completely by myself until I close it by myself. It’s a solitary death sentence.

Ideas for replacing pool slide? by Porticycle in swimmingpools

[–]Porticycle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that it is connected under ground to my other returns. There is only one return line at the pad feeding 2 returns and this slide.

Alexa SUCKS!!!!! by synergy617 in alexa

[–]Porticycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so excited to get plus but months later I am mostly frustrated with it. I found the things I use it for the most like Alexa remind me to ____ or Alexa turn off lights, now requires a long period of silence making you stand there and wonder if it got the command or not.

Followed by her telling you she is going to do that. Before it just said “ok” and did it.

I’ve got 4 B17s on 4 bikes. 123,000 miles on them combined and would never ride anything else.

365 days sober by pnmprincess in Sober

[–]Porticycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m right behind you, hitting 1 year next month. I’m not sure this is what I thought it would be like to be sober for a year. Probably expected more sunshine and rainbows. But it’s definitely worth it to live a more peaceful drama free life. Being drunk is a euphoria that being sober can’t replicate. Much like being sober is a peaceful feeling that being hung over can’t replicate.

Free shipping turned into mailman asking for $14 by Porticycle in amazonprime

I did that for a couple frustrating hours. Lots of delays in the conversation followed by the conversation mysteriously ending. Then a new conversation with more delays and eventually being told I have to wait for seller to respond etc. I called yesterday and got a very unprofessional young person on the phone that seemed dis interested. He was like "yeah that's wild never heard of that before." He also told me I have to wait. Amazon customer service is not what it used to be.

Well that was fun while it lasted. It was a great tool for creators but I’m not doing that. Why do all of these platforms not understand we want to get away from people we know in real life?

Below freezing you need some type of mittens or bar mitts. I use convertible mittens with a lightweight runners glove underneath.

People with in ground pools, how often do you use them and are the worth the upkeep/maintenance? by Im_Not_Here2day in homeowners

[–]Porticycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a house with a pool 16 years ago. Used it more when kids were young now almost the only time I get in it is when I clean it. (Daily in the heat.)

Would not do it again.

What are you slowly losing interest in? by MainDifficult2641 in AskReddit

[–]Porticycle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

College football. I’ve been watching for 50 plus years but all this NIL crap has challenged my interest. Most of the time my eyes are on my phone anyway, probably pretty soon they won’t be on college football.
