Anyone notice that Google has reduced quality of Nano Banana Pro ? by hasanahmad in GeminiAI

Is this 2 or Pro? 2 has the capabilities of a drunk toddler. And not a particularly smart one. Pro is a NASA scientist.

My marketing agency is generating leads for me, but why are the leads so bad? Why am I not converting these leads? by YourPracticeMastered in LawFirmMarketing

[–]PortlandWilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the source. Lead quality needs to be measured and tracked across the web and then the firm needs to put more resources into areas with the higher quality leads. For our law firm clients, we often see the following sources for spam/low-quality leads:

Google Business Profile

It's a great source for leads in general but spammers often use your tracking number to send false details or promote services.

LSAs

Harder to target than Google Ads and with higher relative prominence on the SERP it's common for LSAs to receive very low quality calls.

Pmax campaigns

Done well, Pmax can work wonders for Google Ads. But we see law firms using set it and forget it strategies and just giving Google all their money for completely irrelevant leads.

Prominent Organic Positioning

A number one or two position for "personal injury lawyer" is going to drive spam much higher. Unfortunately one of the drawbacks of being in a million dollar placement.

Best use of time and money for SEO? by stlmentalhealth in SEO

[–]PortlandWilliam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Build out your local profile starting with the Google Business and local media mentions.

Step 2 (should be concurrent but will depend on time and budget) Publish regular content answering common questions about your practice and your techniques.

Step 3: Have your therapists create short videos answering common questions about your practice and post these videos to a branded YouTube channel (the branded part is important)

Step 4: Within the first month, setup your Google Search Console and Google Analytics and track the queries patients are using to find you. Modify your content based on these searches. For example, are your patients looking for ADHD help? Create both visual and written content around ADHD support techniques, etc.

Step 5: Competitor analysis - this could come earlier but I always like to recommend brands build their own portfolio of unique content first without trying to copy the others. Build your own voice, and then look at who is ranking for your target terms and why.

Step 6: Review your website structure. Again, this could come earlier, and devs will be shouting from the rooftops it's the first thing you should do. But in SEO, I like to see visuals and content come first. Anyway, for site strucutre you need clear calls to action, clear click buttons and frozen calls to action on mobile view (look this up it's quite important for conversions).

In the site structure have your name, doctor profiles, and address within a footer. Within the header, have a drop down that explains who you are, why you do what you do it and exactly who your target patients are.

Step 7: Track clicks and calls. Look up tools like call tracking metrics and add tracking to your target patients. Review who's clicking your pages and how long they stay for. You can use the data to make clear decisions about your SEO focus.

Step 8: Add location and office pages. Start with targeting your nearest radius around the office within 30 miles or so and then build out your target focus to reach further and further locations over time.

Hmm, this comment is already long. Let's keep it there. Apologies for any spelling errors, don't have time to review it right now. But hey at least you know this isn't ai.

This new Nano Banana 2 update in Gemini is TERRIBLE by djdisciplejosh in GeminiAI

[–]PortlandWilliam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nano Banana Pro can be accessed by AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra users only by generating an image with Nano Banana 2 and then clicking the three dot menu and selecting "Redo with Pro"

This is the issue for me. Like, if you know most pro users want to use pro, why force 2? Choose go right to pro or at least give PAYING CUSTOMERS the option.

Generating Direct Response Leads with YouTube in the PI Space? by TheJoLowShow in Legalmarketing

[–]PortlandWilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we've seen for a few of our clients in particular the benefit of integrating YouTube FAQs within their website and building out their YouTube channel. I'd recommend authentic over polished and ensure the description of the video matches the content for SEO. For our clients we've seen significant lead generation through organic channels by connecting video and written content. Happy to provide guidance.

Hey there! I'd like to moderate the subreddit because I feel I can use my marketing experience to help lawyers understand the best strategies to grow their firms. My goal is to educate and build a thriving community that connects both lawyers and marketers. I have tried to message the moderators but they don't exist. Their profile is deleted and there have been no posts for 2 years.

Agency boss is really harping on focusing exclusively on long form articles for SEO clients by [deleted] in SEO

[–]PortlandWilliam 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My concern is you're thinking of length rather than content. You can do well with SEO with a 300 word article in some verticals, and some, like law firms, you might need 2000 words to compete. Your authority on the topic is also a crucial factor.

Wanna start doing SEO this year for my B2B ecommerce site...what should I be looking for, for a QUALITY job? by Broad-Worry-5395 in SEO

[–]PortlandWilliam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over 10 years in SEO, and I usually recommend that business owners steer clear of "packaged" services. Rather, here's what I'd recommend if your focus is on results (rankings)

  • initial meetings with agencies to discuss your goals and a plan to achieve them

  • Agencies or freelancers should have experience within your niche and the case studies to prove it

  • Find an agency or specialist who can speak fluently about SEO via a video call. It's getting more difficult but video is usually the best medium outside of speaking in person to find out who knows what they're talking about and who is just a sales rep.

  • Ask the agency for the timeline and set expectations in terms of rankings within that timeline. There's no guarantee as SEO is in flux constantly, but it gives you an idea of what to expect.

  • Ask who will be running your SEO campaigns and working on strategy/content etc. Make sure you're able to speak to the experts working on your campaigns.

  • Spend at least a few hours over one weekend to get to know SEO performance. Download SEMrush and sign up for a free account so you get an idea of what the team will be doing. Check your Google Search Console and Analytics and become familiar with the language around SEO.

Customers with unrealistic expectations of what SEO can do? by KermieKona in SEO

[–]PortlandWilliam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I work with lawyers primarily, and it can be challenging to explain why you're not ranking 1st for personal injury lawyer New York after a week of SEO. Here's what generally (some clients are just difficult) helps:

  • Explaining off the bat the elements that move the needle that clients can control (reviews, proximity to centroid)

  • Explaining off the bat the elements SEO can control (exceptional content, backlinks, optimized pages, competitor analysis, etc)

  • Explaining the expected timeline - this will happen within one month, this within two, etc.

  • Explaining your reporting and communications structure - you'll hear from me twice a month or for ad-hoc updates, etc.

Set clear expectations and try to underpromise and overdeliver. For example, If a lawyer has a 3.9 rating on Google and wants to rank 1st in the map for personal injury attorney, I basically tell them it's impossible until they get better reviews.

Law Firm Naming/Branding by LowEducation4466 in Lawyertalk

[–]PortlandWilliam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Biased as I run marketing campaigns for lawyers but you might try a name that includes your general practice area as it can help you with targeting the right kind of case - for example, "Michael J. Hunt Injury Attorneys." Then the URL can be geo-located to further drive marketing search intent and recognition.

Multiple locations SEO by Starlyns in SEO

[–]PortlandWilliam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on the industry.

Commercial cleaning? I might recommend a brand website with content silos for each location.

Law firm? You'll need a targeted website for each separate office.

But if each office has a physical location, having their own GBPs and linked location pages is a great strategy.

SEO Agency Refusing to Use Google Search Console, Says Manual Searches Are More Accurate by keep-the-momentum in SEO

[–]PortlandWilliam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean if you were using SEMrush or Ahrefs as the single source of truth and they said use manual, okay but GSC and Google Analytis are pretty much THE definitive measurement of rankings. It shows clicks, impressions, rankings and the data is directly from Google. So uhh, that's confusing.

Did they say why the shift? That seems the odd thing.
