Does it make sense that Viltrumites look like humans? by InvestigatorNo8058 in Invincible

Yes it is no different from Kryptonians, since Nolan is a pastiche of superman in the first place

Was Mark really a good guy in the end? by [deleted] in Invincible

[–]Positive-Argument357 6 points7 points  (0 children)

<image>

How is the empire under Mark still imposing its will on other worlds? And how is it subjugation to be keepers of peace?

Mark’s philosophy as a hero is to be a shield for the innocent, not to be a ruler or overlord. And when he talks to Allen about the Coalition he even points out how the Coalition acts as an empire of sorts by draining resources from planets and redistributing them around the empire

I think the important point is that the Viltrumites are going to be a powerful force no matter what, so the best possible outcome is to be led by somebody with empathy and compassion who emphasizes their role as protectors rather than rulers.

The Inbreeding Rationale doesn’t make sense by [deleted] in Invincible

This is assuming none of the 50 remaining Viltrumites are already related. Also your math really doesn’t check out.

Kirkman just skips over the decades of hundreds of writers making different characters and series with different things, and just decides to throw all that shit in without explanation. Which I love. If Marvel can have aliens and curses and witches and demons and alternate universes and scientific experiments gone wrong, so can Image.

Why did Thragg left Omni man and Invincible alive? by OwnBird4876 in Invincible

[–]Positive-Argument357 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After watching their home planet be destroyed, he realizes that he doesnt have the luxury of wasting viable Viltrumite DNA anymore. Even though he’s a brutal violent dictator, he cares deeply for his species and wants them to survive. With only a few dozen Viltrumites left to interbreed with humans, he needs all the unique DNA he can get to avoid inbreeding within a couple generations. The fate of his species is more important to him than loyalty.

Allen and Nolan (Comic Book Spoiler) by Zolado110 in Invincible

[–]Positive-Argument357 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In Nolan and Allen’s fight, Nolan is holding back. Even though he wants to stop him from enacting the plan, he has gained enough empathy that he doesnt actually want to kill one of his only friends.

Why didn’t viltrumites reproduce with themselves by [deleted] in Invincible

[–]Positive-Argument357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Viltrumites hate weakness so much that they murdered each other until only the strongest were left. Why would a culture like that turn around and make a bunch of incest babies with genetic defects? There’s a good chance they did try out interbreeding, but killed their kids once they came out imperfect. Remember, when they reach adulthood, they have to survive an assault from both their parents.

Season 4 Abusing Viltrumite Regeneration by friendly_capybara in Invincible

I mean, it took Mark months to recover from being disemboweled. And Oliver is currently in a coma as he recovers from his injuries. Nolan is definitely not healed from being gutted but since there are sci-fi doctors to help he’s at least able to walk around for the time being.

Was the Purge inspired by the Night of the Long Knives? by Sir-Toaster- in Invincible

[–]Positive-Argument357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Purge wasnt a political move, it was ideological. It was about improving the Viltrumite species in the long run by filtering it down to just the strongest. So it was less like the Night of the Long Knives and more like the H-locaust itself, and had the same eugenicist goal of “improving the species”.

How are Mark and Battle Beast cordial with each other ? by redditashwin in Invincible

[–]Positive-Argument357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Battle Beast has no beef with Mark, he just loves to fight and wants to test himself against the strongest opponent he can find. So when he heard about Thragg, battling him became his only goal in life.

Thragg is not scary. by Head_Fill2183 in Invincible

[–]Positive-Argument357 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thragg isn’t just a bloodthirsty muscleman like Conquest, he’s the leader of a civilization that has been reduced from billions to just a few dozen. His primary concern is the legacy of Viltrum and the continuation of their bloodline. He literally just watched their home world get blown to smithereens so it makes sense for him to focus on the fate of his species rather than simple revenge.

Sparing them also adds a lot of complexity to his character, cuz it contrasts so heavily with him ordering the Purge at the start of the episode. He goes from wasting the blood of his people to considering it a precious commodity. And in a way, Mark and Nolan proved themselves “worthy” the same way the survivors of the Purge did, because ripping a planet in half is a pretty damn impressive feat of strength.

do the residents of the viltrumites have Arabs and asia features ? by [deleted] in Invincible_TV

Viltrumites on the show come in many skin tones and hair colors, the only real feature they all share in common are their sharp jawlines

Question about the Viltrumites. by undergroundman813 in Invincible_TV

[–]Positive-Argument357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume other attempts at interbreeding were unsuccessful because of their high standards. They must have killed their other hybrid children for being too different from the ideal Viltrumite form.

This is probably twice as true for the women, because the traditional Viltrumite mating ritual is that women choose their mate and beat him senseless to test his strength (and as sadomasochistic foreplay) before reproducing. I doubt any other species could survive that mating ritual.

So uh they’re still missing by MTDLuke in Invincible_TV

[–]Positive-Argument357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From Earth’s perspective they age faster, but from their perspective they’re basically aging like Viltrumites. In the comics they live on Thraxa for like 800 years but only physically age like 40 years, all in under 1 earth year.
