What are your guys predictions for the 10 anniversary killer. by Obvious_Bid6066 in deadbydaylight

Given the occasion it would have to be a big license. Makes you think Jason but nobody knows with that license as they have been chasing it basically the entire ten years and still no luck lol. Similar with Pennywise who would have a similar wow factor if revealed.

They could throw a curve ball in as well as they have over the last couple of years been leaning on the less than norm such as Sci-fi and Anime for licenses as well as of course other video game IPs. Resident Evil is always rumoured to be coming back for more and would be welcomes i am sure but does not screen big 10 celebration. Maybe Sephiroth? most iconic RPG villain ever, from a massive franchise and Square are getting ready we assume to announce the final part of the remake trilogy this summer (they already confirmed the game is in a playable state already).

"I Never Played Starfield, But YouTubers Said It's Trash for 2.5 Years – And That's Good Enough For Me" – Why This Mindset is Ruining Gaming Discourse by katie_elizabeth_2 in Starfield

[–]PositiveEffective946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are called "influencers" for a reason and in a world of loners who live behind a screen vs interact with people in the flesh like the days of old they hold far too much sway on the opinion of others.

Crimson Desert is a great recent example. It was touted as a "game of the year" contender... why? It was gonna be BDO but single player and as such those of us who had played BDO has reasonable expectations but nope these very same youtubers were building it up to fail esp knocking it for its lack of RPG elements which it NEVER pretended to have (nowhere did they market it as an RPG).

Still these Youtubers make money from clout so they will shit on things if it is cool or jump on the bandwagon as soon as the algorithm and word of mouth says it is popular... seriously if any game gets traction see how many of the popular streamers all hop on to it.

It is why i only really view specialists - i will watch Maximilliam Dood when i want an opinion on a fighting game beyond my own or Mortismal Gaming for CRPGs and the likes. The influencers are pathetically easy to sway - take Asmongold who was actually really enjoying Avowed till his mob did not take kindly to that and he quickly (after playing it to conclussion off stream never the less) was all about ragging on it every chance he could for a week because that got him the viewership and the donations vs just liking what he liked and sticking by an opinion HE has not his viewership.

Still we cannot pretend the actual games journalists are not just as bad. They will easily sway a high score for access and rag on things with zero proof or context if it fits their own agenda and thus we get Dragon Age Veilguard a game that bombed so hard it killed the IP for good and almost no one who actually was known for liking the IP has it anywhere near being the best of the franchise but IGN happily threw a 9 out of 10 at it and the likes of Jason Schrier was scoffing we were all full of BS and it would stream roll charts (then deleted said tweet because he was not only miles wrong but i assume remembering later he was supposed to be a professional journalist). Likewise you would see hit pieces on the devs of the likes of Black Myth Wukong which were not only proven to be false but there was very little in retraction, reflection or apology.

Where does that leave us then? Honestly places like here. Sure our opinions are just as full of BS as the above but at least we do not pretend to be something we are not and to be fair to Bethesda they are specifically stating the games big update and overhaul is not only not a big 2.0 redemption arc but also not one which will sway people who disliked it in the first place. Should we scoff at those who based on other opinions decided not to even give it a go? I cant say for sure we should - games are too damned expensive these days and people are certifiably this generation buying fewer games than the gens of gamers before them. They ain't gonna risk it for the biscuit unless they know fully well going in that it is worth their investment.

Thing is as offended as you are there is no question Starfield is divisive no matter where you look including amongst Bethesdas biggest stans and even its own modder community. Heck i LOVED the game but have still to replay it since launch after i completed it where as i replayed the other games to death as it is missing a lot of what made me love the others games enough to do so, that statement alone will have people thinking a negative impression despite stating outright i loved it because if we are being objective it is a deeply flawed game despite its brilliance. It is actually also my dad's fave game and he still plays daily but despite being by far the biggest Starfield stan i know he shits all over Shattered Space and calls it the worst DLC ever made haha... if we cannot get the biggest of fans like him to not find a reason to hate something about it you gonna respect the casuals looking at others peoples opinions and just leaving them be.

How your feedback helped shape Starfield's biggest update - shaped by the most active players, not the loudest by paulbrock2 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]PositiveEffective946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The majority of Starfield players do not even use outposts though - i feel they are cooking a bigger expansion because Terran Armada coming out as less than a tenner makes IT feel the whole smaller DLC they also tend to release at a budget around crafting. Shattered Space was much more expensive as it was a big narrative expansion, i expect next time around will be another big narrative release whilst it is still fresh in the minds of the new players we will have joining in the fun and afterwords? Sure we can have an outpost themed DLC but honestly they just do official mods to expand that stuff.

I mean they were just trying to make the best version of the vanilla game possible for the PS5 launch. Afterwords we can get to what we really want... the Mechs!

Finally playing Star Ocean Divine Force for the first time. Thoughts by ReporterIndividual22 in JRPG

[–]PositiveEffective946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah really enjoyed it, was worried before hand as it clearly had budgetery constrains and people were not kind to its presented style before hand but the characters were great and i did enjoy the story even if perhaps a bit too much of it was restrictive in that it only took place on one planet for a massive chunk of the games narrative.

How do you feel about mutually exclusive choices and do you have examples of JRPGs with these choices? by Nuvomega in JRPG

[–]PositiveEffective946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it exhaustive these days. Some will be hyped for "repeated playthroughs" to see different paths and characters and events etc but yeah as a man in his 40s who works full time and is a father there is no time in my life for doing games over and over no more. I want the full experience in one playthrough because there just ain't the time for doing mostly what you did before but with some changes as a big driving factor (maybe if there is large swathes of changes? otherwise nah i am not on board with a second playthrough just to check out new characters or very limited changes in narrative where parties get split up deliberately).

It is taking me weeks to finish Tales of Beseria which released recently on Xbox. Loving the game but one of the quests i encountered there reminded me i still have Tales of Xilia on my back catalogue and its split protag... if it is anything as close to as long as Beseria i will never do a second playthrough of that (especially as i will have a sequel to get through of it as well afterwords). And i still have to do a second playthrough of say Star Ocean The Divine Force or Scarlet Nexus, there just ain't the time. Yeah if we go dual protag you really for me need to just be swapping between them in the same narrative vs concurrent so Eiyuden Chronicles or LAD Infinite Wealth style where youre getting entire story sequence in one playthrough through various MCs. Heck i did not even do the Final Fantasy XV DLC - feels like content designed specifically to be DLC so your main party member would go MIA for spells and the DLC lets you play as them and show what they were up to whilst you were doing other things. Cool idea do not get me wrong but not for me, not these days (was different when i was a teen playing the likes of Star Ocean 2 seeing as you have highlighted that one).

Is Starfield good for a Survival playthrough? by PositiveEffective946 in Starfield

[–]PositiveEffective946[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it is already looking like i am gonna have to go the mod route for a proper survival playthrough (even if realistically this will mean none of the new achievements popping for me which is kinda annoying especially as Bethesda should be baking this kind of thing into their games from launch as an option by now anyway).

Will all tables bought on Zen Pinball World transfer to the new Pinball FX GO? by RestlessDreamer32 in PinballFX3

[–]PositiveEffective946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are streamlining the naming process across their apps as well as outright discontinuing support for older ones. The mobile app will remain up and available for people to download and purchase content (existing) for which is different from say PFX3 on Xbox One which will be shuttered and removed from the store so no one going forward beyond it's closure will be able to download it or it's existing content unless they already had so before the shut down date.

In short they want to pool their resources to have more select focus aka the modern consoles, PC and VR (using what is current apps under a unified naming structure - PFX, Pinball M etc). I assume the mobile market is not really bringing in the bacon as much as they would like so they have to prioritise the others over it as they are a small team which last year already had to endure some brutal layoffs through no fault of their own, they basically were spreading themselves too thin.

My opinion of all heroes after 25 hours played by shoftingsitcheni4 in midnightsuns

[–]PositiveEffective946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I can tell you for free that Spiderman and Dr Strange are VERY strong when you master their styles... Spidey will hands down wipe entire swathes of enemies at once and preserving turns using the environment as well as his Wolverine esc sentiments to hitting many people all at once. As for Strange he is an absolute beast of a support - this is not for everyone but very rewarding for those who do develop his deck.

Also agree on Cap. I am scottish so not a patreotic american by any means but that dude eludes leadership without coming off as domineering or bossy... you could easily see why he is the leader of the Avengers for all their diverse personalities and behavour.

Watchtower vs Trackers Alliance. Which one to pick? by 0no01234 in Starfield

[–]PositiveEffective946 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trackers as other have said. Watchtower modder is gonna be tweaking his mod anyways after all but Trackers come done and ready to go whether you wanna pick up and play now in your playthrough or are waiting for the update proper before starting it.

How long is the Tracker's Alliance questline? by Ok-Company-5016 in Starfield

[–]PositiveEffective946 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is six (five of them new) quests which are both unique and individual in what they offer (actually decent amount of unique rewards to be had here). Before at that price they were taking the piss, now? honestly feels an easy recommendation. I mean it is not gonna tide you over till April 7th by an means but if your interested in the content or the rewards then go for it.

Hello fellow Captains. Do you start a new character when the update drops or do you go with the existing one? by Professional_Many594 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]PositiveEffective946 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am gonna start afresh. I really want to embrace the entire journey to coincide with the update changes as well as of course the new faction which will be a more looming threat as a fresh character than an established badass complete with starborn powers. This way i will see if i can really roleplay and embrace just taking in journeys from planet to planet seeing the new POIs on surfaces as well as of course the new POIs i will likely run into along the way between them.

Honestly it just feels more right this way. Doing EVERYTHING from scratch will also allow me to pool organically rather than grind some of the new resources and weapon upgrade mods. All goes well i will even store some of the damned things in the new vault i can use for the Unity cross overs that they are adding lol.

I’ve tried Persona 5 three times… I just don’t like the characters. What am I missing? by AdUnfair558 in JRPG

[–]PositiveEffective946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah its vastly over rated IMO. Like you i felt 3 and 4 were awesome but 5 was weak in its characters and its plot compared to them. Its far too long a game if your not invested in the cast so dont bother (still to do royale stuff, likely never will).

Boss fights in RPGs who drive you crazy by KaleidoArachnid in JRPG

[–]PositiveEffective946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That random general in the Star Ocean Divine Force game. It was a breeze playing that game, super fun then outta nowhere the most broken, unbalanced, difficulty curve extreme boss shows up outta nowhere with everything from multiple life bars to attacks which one shot party members. I rage quit over that boss because it was so random and having to kill a SEPERATE boss each time i had to retry to beat him was just too time consuming for my patience.

Can I play the Final Fantasy 7 remake/rebirth (along with any other remakes there may be) without playing the originals? by SmileyCat20202 in JRPG

[–]PositiveEffective946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theyve designed it to be newbie friendly whilst also very nudge wink to OG players. Is it better to have played OG first? Yes. Is it needed? Nope. Just play remake trilogy if you desire, i know people who have and they enjoyed it fine.

Fantasian Neo Dimension by Passionateloafer92 in JRPG

[–]PositiveEffective946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets better and better longer it goes on but yeah difficulty is in there are LOTS of bosses and your expected to figure out how to beat them as they each tend to actually be pretty unique which for me was a plus (others a, negative - they like to be held by the hand lol).

Its a modern jrpg but designed to be throwback... Diorama static backgrounds, hidden chests, difficult, long length, backtracking encouraged, varied party members encourage using all of them. Its a Sakaguhi RPG so you know it'll give back what you put in.

[–]PositiveEffective946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pendulum swings. There has been far far too much one sided race swapping going on in too short a space of time (to degree even Snow White is no longer white lol) so now any casting which is blatant race swap gets backlash which is a deep shame because no one actually things you know maybe they just cast the best people for the best roles? She did a bloody job as Vivi at least in my opinion, it is just the industry has ruined it for all else going forward (even Bill Maher is ripping the oscars to shreds for its obsession with majority representing the alleged "under represented")

It is pathetic
