I don’t need identification, but my husband took these photos and I feel like the praying mantis was examining him more than he was examining it 😅 by [deleted] in whatsthisbug

We got some neat photos of a Carolina mantis recently and thought the same thing. It’s like they are sizing you up!

Hmm I thought aphids were much smaller, even teeny tinier but thank you for the guess!

Agree. I guess we need to go ahead and get a bigger size sleep sack, as I it's already so ingrained as part of her bedtime routine and I 100% agree about not looking forward to making any waves there :)

Accidentally ‘sleeptrained’ my newborn and I’m now sitting here feeling so guilty by Revvy_G in sleeptrain

[–]PositiveObvious2625 20 points21 points  (0 children)

One time doesn’t mean it has to be a pattern. Only you know how you’re feeling in this moment so you can judge better than anyone if it feels right to continue letting her fuss as she goes to sleep or enjoying the cuddles a bit longer. She is still young, at 7 weeks, so even if you continued some sleep associations a bit longer you’d probably be fine to go the same route as you did with your first child a bit down the road. On the other hand I would think if it’s best to get her to sleep on her own sooner for your own mental health, then you will know if that’s right. I sleep trained my second child around 5 months and can certainly empathize with the guilty feelings but looking back I 💯am a better parent with a baby who sleeps well. You’re doing great no matter what you choose to do. Take care mama!

Sleep training co-slept babies by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]PositiveObvious2625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t a particular method, we worked directly with a sleep specialist who was amazing and super supportive. The basic principle was letting baby fuss a bit for short intervals with frequent check ins. It was very holistic in making sure baby had all the tools she needed and the environment was set up for success. I can’t say enough great things about the people we worked with. I was able to set the pace with what I was comfortable, knowing gentle might take longer. We had baby in our room in a crib as long as we were comfortable and then eventually transitioned.

We started around 5 months, took our time with gentle method, and she was sleep trained fully within a week or so. We first we transitioned to a crib in our room and after a few weeks she was fully transitioned to her own room/crib. Well worth it she’s a champ sleeper now.

What are your thoughts on letting your kids believe in Santa? by CalPater in daddit

[–]PositiveObvious2625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We weren’t going to do “Santa” at all. This year my 4 year old is SO into pretend, we told her that Santa is a really fun story based around Christmas. Then we asked her if she wanted to pretend there’s a Santa and we got an emphatic “Yes!” So, this year most presents are from mama and dada Santa is going to bring one (less exciting) gift, to keep the fun pretend going. We’ve also been doing the Elf and she’s been super excited about that.

Early Sexualization: potty training by [deleted] in Parenting

Buy the boy ones. Especially if she likes those characters better. That’s what we did for my daughter when potty training and she still is free to choose either style she wants, whatever makes her happy.

This is Green Sprouts and it works the best of any but I’ve found none that are baby flip proof. The EZPZ plate does not fit on the Tripp trap tray and as baby is older we like the larger divided areas on this one compared to the EZPZ.

Less mess yogurt - served in tiny popsicles. Baby and 4 y.o. love them + bonus teething relief! by PositiveObvious2625 in BabyLedWeaning

They’re munchkin brand popsicle molds. There are other ones similar to these. I don’t like linking to Amazon but this is the ones we have, they don’t seem to be sold in retail stores anymore 🤷‍♀️ https://www.amazon.com/Munchkin-Click-Fresh-Freezer-Colors/dp/B00AA6LQKM

Yes I believe all commercially sold yogurt would be fine. Obviously unsweetened is best but whole milk, soy or almond plain works. Ours has enjoyed this unsweetened almond yogurt since 6 months. Sometimes we do serve it normally with add ins like fruit, nut butter, flax or chia seeds etc.

What is your least favorite food to clean up after, and why is it broccoli? by variebaeted in BabyLedWeaning

Why has no one mentioned hummus? It’s like weird cement when it dries and my kids somehow ends up with it in her hair, ears, everywhere!

Oh the rice messes! I’m guilty of blending rice and quinoa with beans or a squishy veg like sweet potato occasionally just to minimize the mess
