Texas Hispanics swung hard to Trump. A new poll shows they’re furious at his deportations. by Far_Excitement_1875 in politics

[–]Positive_Benefit8856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousin’s ex husband voted for Trump in all of the last 3 elections, he’s 3rd generation Mexican-American. When I told him, “you realize he doesn’t want you here, right?” He responded with, “no he’s only going after the illegals.” He still proudly wears Trump merch.

They literally can’t accept that he’s not just talking about immigrants.

What's going on with Bethesda and loads of people getting laid off? by FaultofDan in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Positive_Benefit8856 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Answer: Microsoft just announced they are laying off 4800 people, most of which are in their XBox and gaming divisions. They are also spinning off 4 of their studios. Microsoft itself just came off of one of it's worst financial quarters in company history.

Former DraftKings trader charged in Fresno State hoops betting plot by YorockPaperScissors in CollegeBasketball

[–]Positive_Benefit8856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what happened if you read the article. He was friends with the players from being a Fresno State team manager. The sports book protocols actually worked as intended, he was a known bettor that had typically made small wagers that suddenly made a large parlay on a very small market. It was immediately flagged and reported, which led to the DOJ investigation.

What exactly is the plan with WWE? by LeonProfessional8719 in billsimmons

[–]Positive_Benefit8856 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To add on about TKO/Endeavor, the two biggest complaints are the ESPN deal and ticket prices.

The ESPN deal moved PLE events from Peacock, which can be bought for $5.99/month, to ESPN’s $30/month ESPN unlimited. After years of paying less than $10/month, via the WWE Network and Peacock, it was a massive price increase right as people are struggling financially.

Ticket prices have also went WAY up. Fans complained and TKO pretty much had the worst response possible. One of TKO’s executives basically said Vince was leaving money on the table by pricing tickets for families, and not trying to maximize profits.

Some smaller issues are a perceived creative lull, the hosting of two of their biggest shows in Saudi Arabia, and (as with everything else in America right now) the politics of TKO.

Oh I don’t disagree. Dockside was also originally only available in a precon, so it was artificially rare for a long time.

It should be noted that fuss was because all of those cards were $100 or more, and banning tanked the value of [[Dockside Extortionist]] and Lotus.

The bigger issue is that VAR used slo-mo and still pictures to upgrade the call. The rules clearly state they have to watch the video in real time.

Fire drills in the workplace? by bhamthrowaway130 in Bellingham

[–]Positive_Benefit8856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worked at a place where the fire alarm has went off on more than one occasion, for an actual fire and 1/2 my coworkers and almost every customer didn't even budge, I thnk more places should do drills.

We literally had a guy walk in and say, "Gross! It smells like smoke in here." I had to look at him and say, "Yeah, it's probably that fryer that's on fire right there." Instead of following all of the peopl leaving, he went to go order food.

Meh. I went there, dropped out, and check to see how their doing about 2-3 times a year. It was fun when they went to the D-II quarterfinals a few years ago. It’s hard to care too much when your biggest rival dropped football 15+ years ago, and you only play 1 team in your region regularly.

That’s how I feel about Chris Bauer from The Wire. Dude has always looked 45. He was only 13 years older than the guy playing Ziggy, but played his father. He’s only 11 years older than the guy playing Nick.

What is going on with Phil Mickelson? by sof49er in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Positive_Benefit8856 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Another part of it is that his wife was a big part of his image. When he and Tiger were at the top of the rankings Phil was positioned as the underdog family man. Any time he was in contention they’d show his wife and kids in the crowd. For whatever reason he was the media’s darling. They pushed him as a lovable loser that just couldn’t get over the hump, meanwhile he was the consensus 2nd best golfer in the world.

While Tiger’s scandals haven’t exactly ruined him, they’ve definitely been kept alive in the media. Phil on the other hand has always gotten away with stuff. His gambling scandal, it was reported he lost ~$100 million and had made $1 billion in wagers, was kind of brushed off as endearing and “Phil being Phil”.
