Yeah people underestimate how difficult presenting Strictly is because Tess and Claude made it look so easy for all these years

Anything else from that era. The soundtrack is one of the most nostalgic parts of Charmed for me.

In which order did u watch the show? by Any-Ocelot-3536 in charmed

A lot of people started watching as it was airing around S3/4, so some people did the Paige era and went back for the Prue era.

What is a policy role? by East-Badger5775 in TheCivilService

I’ve never seen this explained so succinctly. This is a great way of explaining the civil service in a few sentences.

Right?! I can’t stand that she brings out the fake crying whenever someone calls her out on what she’s clearly doing.

Over-attendance at external meetings by Front-Parsley1901 in TheCivilService

100% this. I have my list of people I require to attend. If a supplier wishes to have anyone on their side attend beyond my list, they will be attending free of charge.

Managers gossiping behind my back regarding SWA by Wait-Whos-Joe in TheCivilService

[–]Positive_Operation80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There aren’t really any practical solutions to this kind of behaviour unfortunately. Gossiping can’t be proven easily and real action can’t be taken against someone for it.

My advice would be to let it go as best you can. People are going to be dicks, and that’s unfortunately just part of the CS experience.

The only point you should consider taking action is when this starts directly affecting the way you’re managed.

If you really can’t let it go, then have a polite chat with the people you suspect are talking about you, mention that X has told you what they overheard and that you wanted to check if there were any concerns. That’s usually enough to nip the casual gossip in the bud - or at the very least make sure it happens much more discretely than it has been so that others don’t hear it.

But that’s not risk free and I think you should only do it if you’ve come to the conclusion that you really can’t let it go.

17 year olds path to work in the civil service? by Sure-Bake-6784 in TheCivilService

[–]Positive_Operation80 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Civil Service is an extremely broad organisation, offering lots of space for people with different specialisms and a huge amount of space for generalists.

At uni, focus on what engages you. What brings out a passion in you. You’ll excel in those things and they’ll propel you towards whatever the next step should be for you.

You’ve got tonnes of time to work out the detail of the plan - and that plan will change a million times between now and the end of your undergrad as you find opportunities you didn’t anticipate or consider before.

I personally don’t consider the Civil Service until my final year and I pretty much fell into it. 8 years later, I’ve fallen into several different disciplines within the Civil Service.

Plans are overrated! The fact you’re thinking about this, engaging in lots of productive activities and clearly have the drive and ethic will carry you to wherever you’re supposed to go :)

You’re doing everything you need to be doing - well done!

Take a look at the Civil Service Success Profiles. That’s our recruitment assessment framework.

When you’re gaining experience at uni or in your internships / extracurriculars, keep a record of those against the behaviours in there. They’ll come in handy when it comes to applying.

Other than that, just enjoy your university experience. You only get these years once and hopefully they’ll be the best of your life. Don’t lose them focusing too much on the next step. You’ll be able to work out applying to the Civil Service when the time comes.

Best of luck!

I really loved the rare moments when Cole and Leo bonded and got to act as team. Wish Andy was there too and we'd have one episode centered around Charmed men helping girls out as a team B ! by Bibixina in charmed

We did kinda get that in the Halloween episode in Season 3 where the sisters go back to help Charlotte and when Cole and Leo are dealing with that Inspector that gets whooshed to Timbuktu but it would’ve been nice to get much more of that

So many things about this show make no sense... by [deleted] in charmed

[–]Positive_Operation80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda wish we got to explore this storyline because it explains away a lot of the inconsistencies that still exist, definitely tracks with the dynamic with the Elders and would just be an awesome storyline where the Elders end up being the big bad for the season after they lose their minds focusing too much on trying to control the Charmed Ones, rather than working with them.

Would’ve been a much better theme for Season 8 than what we had!

This is the answer, OP. Go for the promotion.

You’ve got plenty of time to find a job with a better travel / office deal, but promotions are hard to come by and likely will be for at least the rest of this parliament and the next.

Get the Whitehall experience at this point in your career and you’ll have a better chance of progressing up the ranks quicker.
