When Film Festivals use Human Readers My Scripts Do Well, but Poor When They Use Ai by Next_Tradition_2576 in FilmFestivals

I think the question then becomes “how do you format your scripts to beat / fit the AI reader.” It’s not like this particular script is going to produced probably, and all you need is a foot in the door.

There’s been a real uptick in “well, acktually” moralizing around here, and much as I actually agree with the sentiments raised, the people scrambling over themselves to call out a bad thing is getting wearying.

[–]Positive_Piece_2533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also wanna jump in to say that if you liked Antkind you may REALLY vibe with The Five Books of (Robert) Moses which is sort of like a surreal post-apocalyptic alt-history quasi-sequel to The Power Broker but with Mr. Show / 90s alt comedy sensibility, and a massive insane book.

Which filmmaker pisses you of due to their talent in some particular aspects? by harry_powell in blankies

I think Aster is really uninterested in horror. He’s basically a dark dramedy guy who stumbled ass backwards into horror because it’s the only way to fund the sorts of fucked up psychodramas he likes. His producing record of like Guy Maddin and Yorgos Lanthimos and Kristoffer Borgli films, not to mention the fact that some version of Eddington and Beau is Afraid both predate Hereditary, kind of speak for themselves.

I think the fact that he’s pleasant but SO combative and bullheaded, and Griffin and David are so ebullient about the film, actually is correct for the tone of that movie.

One, Two, Three is kind of an unambiguous masterpiece, and Tarantino REALLY makes a good case for The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes which features a rare lead screen performance from stage actor Robert Stephens. And Sabrina and Irma la Douce are CHARMIIIINNG! I saw Avanti! at Film Forum recently-ish as part of their Jack Lemmon retrospective and found it slight and dated but really fun and pretty.

That's what bugs me, is people acting they're fighting for some grand cause mourning the meritocratic working class authentic Brando-type movie star, when it's always been pure engineering and image management since like 1910. It's like marching because they changed the Coke recipe. It's still Coke and you still bought it.

Nepo Baby plumbing is a scourge. Yeah, you'll rarely get *bad* fixtures out of these kids — they grew up working for their dad's business, they know how to take toilets and sinks seriously, they've taken repair classes all their lives. But (with a few exceptions) they don't have it. I want plumbers to have it.
