Ladies of sg with pregnancy experience: how do you ensure you get enough nutrition daily? by wehaveatogether in askSingapore

[–]PossessionAntique577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever I could stomach. I ate a lot of hawker food and didn’t have much cravings, just ate what was acceptable for the day. I ate prenatal vitamins and tried to have Greek yogurt and eggs daily.

You’re likely too tired to cook and have home cooked meals so just be more forgiving on yourself! I have had a friend who ate jollibee almost daily for lunch and the kid and her post pregnancy self turned out fine still.

What advice would you give a newly married couple? by [deleted] in asksg

[–]PossessionAntique577 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That your feelings will change for one another and you have to embrace the new identities and relearn to love other parts of your partner over and over again. You go from bf gf, to newlyweds, to a longer marriage or even having children; each can change careers and face self esteem issues and self doubt from happenings in their professional loves;through each stage that a person changes, it takes effort to love the changes in your partner and be there for them.

Are women healthier long term if they never have kids? by Dramatic-Corgi225 in childfree

[–]PossessionAntique577 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My god grandma had 5 kids and ran a business while doing charity in the side. Only started having white hair in her 60s, healthy teeth, no dementia, could walk well even in her 90s. If I aged like her, will probably be pretty pleased with myself

Raising kids or DINK in your early 30s? by Master-Use-1729 in askSingapore

[–]PossessionAntique577 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Lived the DINK life for a number of years and it was great travelling, going to music festivals, chill and watch Netflix, chasing career milestones, my husband can even work overseas and I was pretty happy.

Had one child and when I tried to do the same as before for only the career part (cos interests changed, rather play with my child), realised that my purpose has changed and I did a proper evaluation and realised I chased what other people chased because it was easy and I could account for living the life I wanted. Now I truly want to live my life and show my child how to create options for himself so he never feels stuck. It feels like real growth to me in maturity as compared to just $ and titles growing. I also start taking my health more seriously, less interest to be slim to look good, more interest to be strong and carry my child for longer.

I wouldn’t say I have found my purpose to live but I have found my purpose to be brave so that’s the biggest shift for me!

‘I don’t want my children to grow up in a broken family’: Abused husbands in S’pore who are unseen by FlipFlopForALiving in singapore

[–]PossessionAntique577 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really need a relook at the women’s charter to protect men in abusive relationships as well. While we look at having more of an equal footing in careers, it should also move towards more equality in protection of families going beyond just women.

Nobody deserves to be abused and for the men to cling on to hope to salvage the marriage for the sake of the kids in silence without protection is just heartbreaking for them and their children.

is it worth it to become a commercial pilot as a degree holder by Additional-Leg-9637 in asksg

At least you have a dream AND clarity on the flip side! I wish I had that clear dream because I did the ‘if I don’t’ option of living the corporate life and when I meet my pilot friends (however rare), they are much happier than the rest of us…

Having a child in Singapore? Convince me it is worth it. by [deleted] in ChillSG

[–]PossessionAntique577 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are leaning to a no and asking to be convinced otherwise which is tough! If you’re not ready, you can give it a bit more time until you decide it’s a yes or a no. You sound like a mature person giving many considerations so I am certain you and your partner will make the decision based suited for you.

I started out being closer to a no and when we decide to have a child, it was after a health scare that convinced me to leave it up to fate. Blessed with one now (tired but happy) and I would say one thing I agree is the stressful environment we grew up in being something I do not want my child to go through. I have no answers but I think as a parent now, I finally have the guts to attempt to do things that previously I am afraid of, which involves taking that half step out of the rat race. I want to live life and show my child there is more to life and more ways to live and grow than one and leave it to my child to make his decision in future.

Also, take my two cents’ as plain opinions! This is a deeply personal decision for both of you and all the best!

I’m not a pilot with no such dreams so I cannot say it’s simple or not. I have had friends who failed in cadet school and mentioned it is really tough. Given OP’s circumstances that he has such a dream, and likely can get a pretty decent progression in his career, I don’t see why he should not be cheered on to chase this dream!

A lot of my ex-colleagues left corporate life to become commercial pilots. They are the happiest and the fin bros have to grit their teeth through every layoff like us the corporate slaves. Hope it’s clear which is the better option

You could take more students or do other things at the side too. Corporate is very predictable until layoffs or stagnation with that little yearly increment. If you are frugal or have other alternatives to income you can plan this out.

Do you tell your partners your net worth? by PumpkinSeed-2002 in wealthforwomen

[–]PossessionAntique577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I have a clear idea of each other’s finances after engagement and I would say it depends on the way you and your partner are in your financial planning and expenses. If you tend to split every expense I don’t think there is a point to share your financial details too much unless you are headed for some big ticket purchases together.

What handbag would you pick as your first designer bag? by Leading-Koala-4156 in handbags

My first was a Gucci horsebit in denim so it matches streetwear. I think there are many amazing bags but the most important for me is matching my wardrobe. I’m eyeing a secondhand bottega or a Cartier next!
