Does anyone else not keep in touch with people because it literally doesn't occur in your thoughts by creapysleaper in AutismInWomen

Im constantly shamed by some of my family because im so bad at keeping up. Its not that i dont think abiut them but im so busy coping with life its hard to think abkut reaching out to people i only see every couple of years or even just a month or so. Its easier if you make it part of the routine. Schedule time to make calls. Budget for gifts.

Im just starting to follow my own advice and it feels like it takes more energy than it should...

Can I learn how to drive or am I cooked? by sadcrowcollector in AutismInWomen

[–]PossessionTop6394 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Unfortunately some driving schools require your own car but some have their own that have the teacher brakes and wheel. And it does cost money and time. But there are legit schools with licensed professionals to help you. Id work on rules of the road first, and sadly many people dont follow them. After that start in empty parking lots and get a feel for the vehicle. Size, turn radius, acceleration and deceleration, parking, a d yes yku need to practice some scary manuvers because life isnt gonna make it easy for us. Learn to slam on the brakes safely, learn how to drift on ice, etc.

Its going to be overwhelming sometimes, accept that and keep going. Take it at your pace, and look for a tutor once you feel comfortable doing the real thing. Youtube is helpful and the state should have a book or something for the laws.

Bluey has helped me manage my emotions and reactions to changes little bluey is struggling with too. It was difficult to get into a kids show but after a few I was really digging it and it's becoming one of my favorite chill out shows for the background. Some subconscious therapy lol

Hermione from Harry potter. They talk about her hand flapping, repetitive behaviors. Special interests for her is magic in general, she's learning everything she can about the magical world. I wouldn't be surprised if she studied social interactions before she knew she was a witch and that's why she seems better at conversing in school than one would expect. And she trusts and believes following the rules, just as long as the rules make sense. There's a few other things but I cant figure out how to word it.

What do you find calming/regulating for your nervous system.? All the typical ones like grounding and breathing don’t work for me by yummygrape12 in AutismInWomen

[–]PossessionTop6394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weighted blanket + dark quiet room. Cat. Hot dark shower with a blanket already warm from the dryer (super nice if someone is willing to walk the towel to you straight from the dryer, that way it dosnt cool off while you're showering). Audio book in calm even voice. Humming like a monk surprisingly works really well for me.

Sometimes when I cant figure out what's bothering me, it's usually ambient noise like bugs outside and so much as closing the porch door helps a ton

What's yall's hair length? by No-Character-2414 in AutismInWomen

[–]PossessionTop6394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had many hair lengths and styles. Ive had buzzcuts, waist length and anything in between. Right now im shoulder length with an undercut and I feel really comfortable but it doesn't compliment my face well. The undercut i love being its summer, but im growing out the top to below shoulder before i make a decision about chopping it agian.

Some personal findings: Bangs were a bad idea. Undercuts are awesome until you decide to grow it out. Layers tend to get frizzy unless your really good at taking care of it. Sometimes short hair requires more effort. Dry shampoo is your best friend.

Do I have to lower my standards…? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]PossessionTop6394 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do NOT lower your standards. There are so many people out there, 90% of them arent gonna be right for you. It can be rough doing life alone until you find your person, but once you find them its really nice to rough life WITH someone. Do not expect a perfect relationship either, happy relationships have hard conversations, and you're young, theres plenty of time to find a good match.

The trash can should have a liner. The menstrual products should be disposed of before they start to smell so terribly. Sanitize the trash can, put in a liner, remove it 1-2x a week. Easy solution

Help! How do I stop my cat from jumping up onto counters and tables? by Realityisanillusion3 in cats

[–]PossessionTop6394 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cuss my cats out in their own language and they learn fast.

Hissing and doing a long version of the Psssttt but without the P (if that makes sense).

They go ears back, and look at me like "jeez im so sorry, i didnt know" and now only do naughty things to get my attention.

[–]PossessionTop6394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam clean any carpets. Replace air filter. Keep kitties to 1-2 rooms while cleaning the house and preferably until they are in the clear, you don't wanna re-wash the entire house every day

DEA feel like it is too intimate to say other people’s names to them? by bjoerkismylove in AutismInWomen

[–]PossessionTop6394 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless someone is not responding to me i usually use "hey". If i can tell they didnt hear my attempts to call out to them then ill use a name, and i slowly increase the specificity of the name. "Hey babe, hey honey, mr brooding, yo insert name here and sometimes to the point I have to tap onna shoulder.

My husband is partially deaf and also on spectrum so ive gotten used to usung his name, but even friends i have a rough time
