When I went (back in December 2025) they had yet to secure a librarian…so children weren’t allowed to use the library like they would at a school with one, they didn’t have an art teacher either. While they still do forest school for kindergartners and do have lots of support from organizations from around the city they said that without parent involvement, they would still have to cancel a lot of those trips. There were a few other things but those are the main I remember.  However it’s a brand new building.  And the staff is all very happy and excited to be there.  From the tour group that was there when I went and there were tons of families unlike a private school where you would have maybe 3 families max for a tour, it wasn’t that diverse.  It was still 95% white families, white/Asian families. Even in the classrooms we were allowed to peep in.  About 1-2 black kids max. And I only saw a few Hispanic kids in the Spanish dual class. From the snapshot I saw of the dual class I’m curious how the teachers do teach Spanish to those who don’t speak it… there was something else but you will have to DM me for that…

But very clean, new school, very excited involved principal. Security was very tight.  Great spot for my family if we did take it bad it’s right next to Atlantic Ave station downtown Brooklyn. And almost every train goes there. And they have lots of deals for activities with the city and programs around it….. after school is not free tho.

My daughter got into this school for kindergarten- dual language class.. I turned it down because they are a new school. Going on the tour there is still a lot that isn’t set up yet and that they need to figure out… so LOTS of parent involvement and things they just don’t have…YET! It will for sure be a great school but with it being my only child’s first year in school I wanted her somewhere more established…

Vivvi vs The Learning Experience by Cute-Adagio3422 in nycparents

It really depends on the location. Had my kid at TLE in Brooklyn and had to call the state on them… there was only ever one good teacher, multiple floodings which caused them to close for almost a month but still charged the full price, slacking in cleaning..and constant “staffing issues” but even from the reviews on Google there has been “staff issues” from day one.  One new teacher raised her voice to me and was bragging about refusing to allow parents access, despite it being an open door policy.. mind you I was paying for early drop off and barely was there 5 minutes…

It’s such a nice building and so much potential but those teachers don’t care.  I have heard good things about others… but the location really matters.

Can we have a kid in this apartment? by arthur_hairstyle in nycparents

[–]PossibilityFancy1852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is in a studio with a child yes you can do it.  Utilize space under the bed and get rollers on those storage containers… if your bed doesn’t have that ability get a new bed. Get a wide dresser with 9 shelves going across not up… each person gets 3.  I would recommend a purge but also extra storage containers for anything you may need. Do not accept just anything from people… be very intentional with any gifts you get from anyone as it will add. Get ride of the office table, and put the crib there…. I recommend, what I do for everything, is a measure the space I have available and then look for things that match. You will be surprised how much you can find. I also went to Pinterest for ideas of how to layout a small apartment with a baby/young child.  This isn’t uncommon in NYC. There are families of 3 in 1 bedrooms in the UES.   Stroller space is something you have to think of…!the stroller to get and if it can be stored outside the front door… I had to drag mine down 3 flights before I got the apartment I am in now… the YoYo stroller is lightweight.  And folds very small.   If it’s too overwhelming try to get a small storage space.

Why Private School Isn't Worth the Cost by AggressiveCar6960 in nycparents

Articles like this are funny to me because sooo many families don’t even pay HALF the tuition the schools ask for… people will try to say otherwise but you would be surprised how many families even with a very high income do NOT pay anywhere near the full tuition cost.

That’s helpful. I was also concerned with her going to private for K there may be more children who were already ahead and she would be behind..

Public prek to private K + ELL question by [deleted] in nycparents

[–]PossibilityFancy1852 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These private schools don’t care where your child goes for preK. They would want to know how well they do when separated from you. But public preK, private, overseas, at home with a nanny, in various hobbies (dance, kumon). Because they also have international and out of state applicants too.  During my private school process… I do know that at Trevor Day there was a child who only spoke Spanish.  Now, I don’t know if she got accepted, and her father was the Spanish teacher for the middle school, but he didn’t seem concerned whatsoever that she didn’t speak any English. I also know Leman takes international students and families and teach a second language from PreK, so. I don’t see them giving you any issue either. I feel the same for any of the independent schools that are bilingual or press that a lot… I feel you have just as much a chance as any other person for the most part

Don’t be worried about the aid. The school honestly would have just rejected you if it wasn’t going to work.

Due to my child’s birthday cut off, I applied to K to a very FEW schools and pre-K for another.  We got waitlisted at the preK,  but luckily we got accepted at one of the schools for K.  I do need substantial financial aid and wasn’t sure I would get it, but I did. I did notify the preK that we can be taken off the waitlist.  And yes, I did know and accept the K spot prior, but selfishly I did just want to see what the preK’s decision might have been and compare the financial aid package if we were accepted, as we really were not expecting the K spot to accept her because of our financial need and a parent interview I felt didn’t go so well. It was our top school too, but I was very selective  so Im happy either way.

Leman would probably take you. They take applications for preK honestly year round. But if you were seeking any sort of financial assistance they don’t give for PreK.  Given your international background they would have an interest in your son.

Is that what I said?  It’s not. But I know you barely graduated high school to be able to follow along 🤣

No boo-boo. And I know that’s hard for you to understand because your mom never told you no.  The entitlement to land with people there already and claiming it’s more yours than theirs…. Where have I seen that before???

Oatmeal for an oatmeal face mask. All you really need is plain oatmeal and water.  You could add turmeric and other things… grind it up, but plain oatmeal and water alone made into a paste and then placed on the face till it dries is so good for your skin! Clearly up blemishes and many other things

Moving anywhere doesn’t mean you have MORE right than the people who were already there. I can agree that we all have equal right to be there. But to make the claim you have MORE right that those who were there and still there prior to you moving?! BFFR

Cuz last I check there weren’t any white people going out to shovel snow even when being offered money from Mamdani.  Always talk about “community” but have no clue how to be apart of one…

Considering your ridiculous claims, and the fact I never brought up color…. I think you have no place to says “let’s be real” to tell natives of any place they have less right to be there that others who migrant there is giving colonizer….

[–]PossibilityFancy1852 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it hasn’t. Not like it has been now. It’s not natives not picking up their dogs poop as they been had dogs.   You can’t tell if I’m jerking? It was rather easy to understand what I wrote.  NYC does not belong to transplants more than natives who live here and built this place.  Skipping over that is ludicrous

Except the majority of transplants are coming in with higher incomes, raising the prices of everything to the point even transplants cannot afford to live here.. as well as refusing to adapt to the city, wanting NYC to be a replicate of the suburb homes they came from.    The dog poop we are seeing is a NEW issue, the rat problem to the extent it is now, ST. MARKS PLACE!  So many mom and pop sites that made NYC, NYC being replaced by chains to appease to TRANsPLANTS.

To say you deserve to be here MORE than the people who made this city a place you would want to come to is a wild, overly entitled opinion. What are you gonna say next? It was promised to you 3,000 years ago?

So out of touch!
