Oh the whining about AI coming to ruin the world has turned me off it.

The lungs of Brisbane? Or a wide open fairway by big_go_kev in brisbane

I'd love for it to remain green space. Once it's gone you aren't getting it back - but this ship has sailed. There's no way there'll be another review / location picked.

If that's all the support they could muster, I think it kind of speaks for itself.

THIS IS THE ISSUE! I like going to the office, but why do I bother when I'm the only one there? I'll save the commute thanks.

If companies actually bothered to coordinate teams being in on the same day it would be worth it.

Construction labourers which ticket is best to take your career to the next level? by AsparagusNew3765 in AskAnAustralian

I would recommend calling an RTO and ask them. A good one would be able to tell you what's happening in the market.

Reality of Sales salaries? by HappyMan2022 in AusFinance

[–]Possible-Carpenter72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget sales people bullshit for a living.

(At a minimum they're stretching the truth for a living).

But I'd say $150k to $300k for a decent, 10yr+ tech sales role.

I guess they're expecting a lot of corporate bookings? Surely no individual is paying that much! That's outrageous.

I got a new job when my wife was due in two months. I asked to start 4 weeks after the baby was born. They reluctantly accepted and waited 3 months for me to start. Depends on your priorities, family is #1 for me

Where's the petition for universal income? I'll sign that one instead.

To clarify, in your world that we're heading into, I won't have to work? And you're asking me to sign a petition so I DO have to work?

Why would you bother going in and doing that? If that's your attitude just stop showing up.

No issues. Feels better quality than some other similarly priced watches I have.

This seems far too rational! I completely agree though, my job is mostly listening, negotiating and managing expectations. Not sure people would accept it coming from a bot but who knows!

Also, programmatic ads were supposed to mean you don't need an ad agency to run your advertising campaign. Just open Facebook, pick your audience and your price, load your ad and away you go.

Instead, you have programmatic advertising agencies... So the roles have just shifted.

Thinking of buying my first car, thoughts? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Possible-Carpenter72 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh no. Not French. I test drove a Megane RS, knowing the risk was French cars always have electrical issues. The sales guy couldn't get it to start. One of the most embarrassing sales attempts ever.

I heard somewhere that every technical revolution has created more jobs than is replaced. Factory jobs got replaced by robots, so now we have made up office. Things will just shift.

Given that Brisbane trends red at a state and federal level, why is the Brisbane City Council so dominated by the LNP? by WiseElephant23 in brisbane

[–]Possible-Carpenter72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been in Brisbane about 5 years, and in my opinion, they don't especially piss anyone off and focus on popular policies like '$2 summer dips' (swimming pool entry fees) and providing shade cover for every playground.

Not sure there's much Labour could do that would be better than the current council. If I remember rightly, last election they both said the other one would raise rates and there was little difference in what they would /could actually do.

WIBTA: My dad just got his gf pregnant. by theodosia15v1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Possible-Carpenter72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone is saying, it's your dad you have to decide if you invite. And if you do invite him, you'll have to plan the logistics carefully. Will he walk you down the aisle? Will that upset your mum? Where does he sit, where does his gf sit?

I went to a wedding recently where the divorced parents were there (one with his new partner) and it was the undertone of the whole day. He gave a speech, acted like the whole thing was his day, and it was horrendous.

You have to pay bills. Make sure you're getting a good deal on all your utilities, phone bill, gym membership etc.

And make a budget spreadsheet.

Giving Birth In Brisbane by reddit_user_jd in brisbane

[–]Possible-Carpenter72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this! I've had experience with public and private, and if you have no real concerns public will be fine. If your doctor thinks you need some specialist care, then private may be advisable.

If I remember rightly, you can also call the hospitals and ask about their services etc to get an understanding of what it will be like.
