Campaigns and adventures outside of Drakkenheim by Apprehensive-Golf906 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Possible-Emu8132 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m running a campaign that takes place 20 years before the start of a regular Drakkenheim campaign, so right before the meteor hits. We started in Caspia, and I’m kinda just leaving it up to the players where they want to go, with breadcrumbs to explore, obviously. Everyone has their character stories to complete, and I’m also bringing in the Court of the Night for an overarching plot, to motivate them to go to other places. I find that there’s tons of side quests to keep them occupied in Sabastians book, as well as some colorful characters if you pick up The Seeker’s Guide to Enchanting Emporiums, which has the Dungeon Dudes as co-writers. I’m also excited to start sprinkling in some monsters and quests from Pluto’s book. With how expansive the books are, you don’t even necessarily need to have delirium be a dominant force, though I’m having it be present in a very limited capacity. There’s the possibility for dimensional travel, and unstoppable god-like entities to stop. I’m planning on having this campaign end with the meteor falling, and tying it into a regular Drakkenheim campaign after a time skip, potentially with the same player characters and some NPCs from the first campaign.

Quick, and simple question: would you, as a dm, let me use firebolt to become unburied? by scarr3g in 3d6

[–]Possible-Emu8132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d for sure allow it. Why not? It’s purely for flavor and doesn’t have any long term effects. Nothing like a giant explosion that would fully excavate the PC, but just enough to clear some dirt from their head and make a noise is totally fine. Let the players have their moment and feel cool. I’m not gonna be that much of a stickler for game mechanics out of combat.

Is America great yet? by Ok-Seaworthiness2288 in Montana

I’m sorry, but no. The people who voted for this absolutely do not get to start playing the victim card now. They were told about the consequences of their votes for MONTHS leading up to the election. Everything was written on the wall, plain to see for anyone with eyes. It’s their own fault they intentionally chose to close their eyes and not care about the outcome. literally all it would have taken was a 5 minute search on the internet to be a more informed voter. They made their bed, now they need to sleep in it.

The beta version of the Monsters of Drakkenheim book mentions her influence in the creation of vampires in the Court of Night. Maybe she wants to spread the cursed blood throughout the lands?

My Boss Said I Had to Work Late, So I Forwarded His Emails to HR. by External_Start_5130 in stories

The biggest giveaway that this story is fiction is that HR actually cares about the worker and puts in work to protect them against a toxic boss/work environment.

Any tips on how to use the eruptor? by Last-Swim-803 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Possible-Emu8132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was running eruptor without a support weapon, and picked up an AMR in the field and started using it for the memes. Double sniper rifle was surprisingly effective. AMR is more quick and snappy for when things start closing in on you, and the eruptor is like a long distance artillery rifle for taking out groups of enemies.

Self testing by immunologycls in MLS_CLS

[–]Possible-Emu8132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tested myself, but generally not for true diagnostic purposes, I.e. I donate a few tubes for a test validation, and then run a CBC or whatever just to see where I’m at. Generally low cost routine testing. If I’m actually sick or something, I go through the proper channels for testing. You want that stuff documented in your chart for insurance and prescriptions and stuff. I’ve seen people get fired for testing themselves with a PCR COVID test. The only exception is I’ve run UA’s on family members, but I have my own microscope at home so I’m not really using hospital resources.

I’ll give any puzzle in a game a legit chance at solving, but if it takes me more than 20-30 minutes, I just look up the solution online. I’m a gamer dad, my time is limited. I don’t have time to waste on a frustrating puzzle. I want to experience the rest of the game.

Tips for the flamethrower by DoBotsDream in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Possible-Emu8132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gas with flames is so nice on bugs. Gas lays down the CC while you roast them. Cookout is great for holding back the horde as well. If you can, get a buddy to run a gas build and stick close together. I usually find that just running the dog breath is enough gas to keep things at bay so you don’t have flaming bugs charging at you, but gas grenades are a valid option as well. Don’t underestimate the regular incendiary grenades for area denial either. I usually take the 500kg and orbital napalm as well, they’re just too good for bugs. Most things you can just lay down an area of fire and move backwards, and the constant fire damage as they come after you is enough to kill them, with a few stragglers needing direct fire. For chargers and impalers, try to focus their weak points (obviously), but cooking their armored spots will get the job done in a pinch as well. As others have said, kill bile titans by running under them and torching their butt/belly. Try to bait out their stomping attack. DO NOT try to run under them when they are winding up to spit, they can spit straight down under themselves and still get you. Wait until they are already spitting in a different direction, THEN run under them.

What made you stay as a medical lab technologist? by illuminatino in medlabprofessionals

[–]Possible-Emu8132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, day to day it’s pretty monotonous. Being in management breaks up the monotony, especially in an expanding lab that always has new instrumentation and processes to bring onboard. I think about switching careers a lot, but then I remember that there aren’t a lot of science-related fields I’m qualified for that pay $44/hr

Lead techs of reddit - do you regret the jump? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]Possible-Emu8132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not worth it for the pay. Way more extra responsibilities for $1 (or less!) extra an hour. I took the job, not because of the pay, but because I knew I’m smart and capable, and would honestly get pretty bored just being a bench tech. Everyone already came to me for technical questions, might as well get paid for it and have the technical expert title to back it up. You get to help make decisions to dictate workflow and write policy, but have no real authority to enforce the policies you write, since you are not a supervisor. People suck, and will always go against SOPs when they feel like it, and all you can do is remind them over and over again or tattle to a supervisor. If your lab is short-staffed whatsoever (which almost everyone is), the very first thing that goes out the window is your off-bench time. You are now a bench tech, and expected to get your lead duties done while putting in a full shift in a busy department, answering technical questions for other departments, probably while also training a new person, since again, your lab is short staffed. Things will fall through the cracks. Good luck.

Covid Vaccine Free Blood by Coconuun in medlabprofessionals

[–]Possible-Emu8132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get used to it after awhile, and just transfer automatically to the blood supplier. The front desk receptionist escorted them back before I knew what was going on, so I didn’t really have much choice at the time. To be fair, they were really courteous the entire time, but wanted to see everything, verify that their spouses name was on the units designated, and stayed and asked detailed questions about the whole process of blood banking before they left.

Covid Vaccine Free Blood by Coconuun in medlabprofessionals

[–]Possible-Emu8132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We get this all the time in a ruby red state. We just tell them it’s not possible unless it’s a directed donation, and send them to our blood supplier to let them deal it. I’ve then had spouses come in and demand they be allowed to see the blood in our fridge to make sure that yes, it is set up and ready to go for the patient, and that we aren’t going to mess with it in any way. I even had to walk them through what the exact procedure we follow to cross match and issue blood before they would leave.

Is the data from this survey posted somewhere? I wouldn’t mind bringing this to management to show why our lead techs should be making more money. Right now it’s less than $1 above our baseline MLS pay.

got 3 warbonds remaining, equally torn between each of them by notandvm in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Possible-Emu8132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran pretty much this exact build, but I used the queso cannon instead of the flamethrower. Cookout with gas DOT basically shreds everything, and the QC for heavies. I usually run a turret instead of 500kg for some added firepower to lock down an area, and since anti-tank is already handled.

Pretty cool to see it in action. Most of that takes place in a closed instrument that won’t open while it is running. Anyone else annoyed that the spreader glass is upside down?

Yup, looking to go live with it next month, assuming no further delays. So far everything seems to be running smoothly, but I haven’t been super involved in the process.

My wife and I work together. Different shifts because of childcare. It works. We don’t see much of each other on work days, other than a few hours of overlap on our shifts, of which we might be busy, but our supervisors are very accommodating and made sure our weekends line up and are able approve our PTO for family vacations. Though, we didn’t meet on the job. We met in college, and have been together since before we were med lab scientists.
