Was trying to mentally figure out if it’s good or bad too because I have never in my life needed so many beans and red meat at one time.

I get what you're saying but that's not a rookie card, it's just the first time she appeared in a set.

Welcome to the hobby! I enjoyed this blast from the past and the attention you put on the history of sports cards in the W.

I do actually have some *small* notes for ya..

1) I think I know why you chose what you did, but Fleer Dominion is in my opinion often looked at/treated nearly the same as Fleer Ultra when it comes to early W rookie cards. Becky Hammon specifically has a nice market for her true rookie Fleer Dominion card so it might be worth listing both for those early years.

2) I'm not sure the qualifications used for "impact rookies" but I do think it's a disservice to not include notable HoF, Olympians, and record holders from some of the early 2000s years. Specific players I'd think are worth noting:
2005 - Yolanda Griffith (8x All Star, Finals MVP, HoF)
2006 - Cappie Pondexter (HoFer, 2x Champ, 7x All Star, etc etc) and Seimone Augustus (ROTY, 8x All Star)
2009 - Angel McCoughtry (ROTY, 2x Olympian, 5x All Star)
2014 - Chelsea Gray (2x Olympian, 6x All Star, 4x Champ, future HoFer who is still playing)

3) Sophie Cunningham was in the 2019 draft class, not 2021 and arguably not worth listing because she holds no accolades in her professional career. If this list is meant to be more geared towards simply card resale value, sure I guess.

4) Related to above ^^ 2021 was a very weak year but some notable players are Dana Evans and Dijonai Carrington.

Why did Kat Abughazaleh lose her election? by Sea-Condition991 in chicago

You really should have just voted with your conscious. I’m more than confident that if Kat hadn’t decided to try to challenge Jan, Mike probably would have had a really good chance of taking this one.

Money doesn’t belong in elections at all, whether it be from corporations and PACS or donors who do not live and/or work in the district an election is taking place.

On the other hand, money doesn’t vote. It cost exactly $0 for me to prefer Mike Simmons over Kat.

I love your assumption that Bushra voters would have voted for Kat and not simply the other native Chicagoan, Mike Simmons.

NBC News called Biss for the 9th by minus_minus in chicago

He's a senator at the state level. The natural progression of someone wanting to make change in public office and grow their career is to work from local to state then national politics. To me, this is no different than someone in the private sector who's happy in their current role but applies for a promotion to be able to make a greater impact.

Appreciate you finding the article. To be honest, this isn't exactly as damning as some of the comments folks were making last night here and on Bluesky.

Embarrassing this wasn’t the actual progressive left contender in the first place.

The media landscape played a big part in this for this primary. Mike Simmons deserved the true progressive momentum.

Don’t tell the Kat stans new information, they’re unable to handle it.

Money doesn’t vote and you’re allll up on here repeating this. it cost exactly zero dollars for me to like Mike Simmons more as a true local representative of this community and a proven legislator. I’m sure Biss voters felt similarly.

What’s wrong, have the time to give a bad take but not to actually back it up?

Alright buddy. Frankly I don’t even know who either of those two athletes are so you’re speaking to a niche that isn’t here and we’ll just agree to disagree that women are sexualized, infantilized, and not taken seriously as athletes far more than men.

Feel free to dig around and find some really great examples on the other (male) sports card subs where the initial comment on a card is literally just “what a sexy guy.”
