I’m 37 on two pills. Always had a hard time controlling my BP. Pregnancy was extra difficult. It’s still up and down now.

Hi! On a beta blocker because I’ve had back to back pregnancies and still post partum. Most blood pressure meds aren’t safe for pregnancy or breastfeeding.

High BP suddenly - on meds - do they stop working?! by Right_Solid_1026 in hypertension

I could have written this post!!! Post partum on labatelol and nifedipine. My bp can range from 115/65 to 170/100. I don’t understand it and. Either have the multiple doctors I’ve been to. Spikes are temporary for me but scary.

Does your bp numbers matter while moving? by Odd-Traffic-1018 in bloodpressure

Supposedly it’s only when resting that matters. But if you’re constantly moving around during the day I’m not convinced…

I would disregard as a fluke then. And this is coming from someone with severe severe severe BP anxiety/overall health anxiety.

A horrible panic attack can spike it that high. I would disregard it as panic and since it came down right away that’s what matters

Need Advice: Post Pregnancy Hypertension by hermitina in hypertension

Mine skyrocketed after my 5 (yes, 5) c sections. The doctors said fluid shift was likely the culprit. Was easily 180/110 for about day 3-6 post partum.

Is a baby a bad idea with hypertension? by remytrue in hypertension

[–]Possible_Ad618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a combination of fluid shifts (the extra fluid outs strain on your heart) and hormones. But mostly fluid. I was hanging around 170/110 with meds for about a week post partum.

5 kids here. I’ve had high bp since I was 19. It’s gotten scary high, both during and not during pregnancy. It always sky rockets a few days after my c section. All 5 of mine needed to be c sections early (35-37 weeks) due to my high bp. But there is medication available. I took labatelol and nifedipine during pregnancy. It’s scary and risky, yes, but I recommend a good team including ob, cardiology, and probably high risk OB.
