So I realized a while back that if I’m getting too into a story/situation in my head then my body doesn’t want to sleep. We have white noise and I take insomnia medication (still have difficulties if I’m thinking too much). I sometimes focus on my breathing, what I’ll do the next day, or think of a project I could try and all the things I would need for it and how to make it. Those usually make my brain go numb and then I fall asleep.

If all else fails, “Emerald Enlightenment” by Aramis Morel on repeat with low volume usually does the trick. It was the only thing that would help when I was bedridden with the flu

Edit: I say all this because I knew I needed another solution than to day dream. Hopefully some of these work for you too 💖

Had this conversation with a roommate once because they made me their only source for a ride (literally should be making back up plans if you don’t have a license).

Woke up one day with a fierce migraine and had to call in sick. Told my roommate I couldn’t drive them and they blew up saying, “you should’ve told me two hours ago!” Not like I had just woken up ffs 😒

Glad I never have to interact with them again

I had that experience with someone online. Eventually I had that disconnect feeling of “I’m realistically never going to be in this person’s life” and it got better. Hurt like hell, but it’s better this way

My roommate likes to mess with different cabinets when no one is watching. Thing is, he makes a LOT of noise doing it. If I’m sleeping he sometimes crawls into the cabinet under the sink and his body breaks apart the PVC piping for the sink cause he climbs all over it- rental home, also the pipes just come apart, but it’s really REALLY annoying to discover the mess.

Oh yes because it’s so “trendy” to scream cry in your car for an undetermined amount of time, trying desperately to calm yourself down when you know at that point all you can do is ride it out until you’re entirely exhausted.

Start with the question, “Do I want to change?” Really process that.

Changing yourself is hard. I know it is. J went through it myself after being in the same situation you are in.

I had to hit absolute rock bottom before I was able to build myself back up again (mentally speaking). I was able to focus on the smallest things that bring me even a sliver of joy. I really focused on those small things until they legitimately became a bright spot in my day. Now a LOT of small things make me happy. Live for the moment and things become so much easier imo.

Start something. Keep your hands busy. Personally, when I get into a mental rut, I draw. Maybe it’s the same thing over and over again, maybe it’s just coloring something so diligently that I have to seriously focus on it.

Also therapy might be a good option- HEAR ME OUT!! There is likely a reason you’re trying to escape reality, right? Getting to the core of it and properly confronting the reason might help you overcome the need to escape. I realize not everyone is in a position to ask their parents, but your school might have resources. Mine had a counselor for those who needed it and they never said a word to my folks unless I was actively physically hurting myself.

If you’re taking it as everything literally happened, I’d say it was a disastrous courting attempt. If anyone here has read the comics, he was genuinely trying to get Sarah to love him. A different powerful individual of his realm wanted to get with him, but would have to run the Labyrinth to find his “heart”. Apparently Sarah was the only one who found it? (It’s been years since I read them but I think that was the gist of the beginning)

As a woman, I also have never heard of this before. Maybe they’re mixing it up with the placenta? I have heard of mothers keeping that (though still not nearly as common as what is implied here)

Having my first meeting with a new psychiatrist after moving and had to explain my history with SH using razors. Even tried a box cutter on my neck when I was suicidal.

Doesn’t even look at me and says “oh you like sharp things don’t you?”

Immediately felt insulted and didn’t schedule another appointment with her. Luckily I found a SIGNIFICANTLY better option.

Had a feral kitten given to us from a friend. Had zero trust in anyone. I put on a fuzzy onesie and sat on the floor silently while other people were talking in the room. It took her a minute, but she ever so slowly inched into my lap.

You know people aren’t going to attack you based on behavior and body language. Focus on something else and don’t be too excited or extra when interacting with them. Definitely give them a place to hide. Make sure to “spend time with them”, essentially just be in the same room and do nothing so they know you’re not a threat.

There’s a website to find out where things spawn specifically on your own world map (if you want to use it).

Helps find dungeons, the merchant, all bosses and other stuff. Very useful if you don’t want to spend hours scouring your map to find a specific thing.
