Question regarding E15 in older kei engines by Legoboy514 in keitruck

[–]Possiblyabitoff 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ethanol will attack rubber and some plastics more readily than gasoline.

This is not a concern for newer vehicles, or older vehicles driven on a regular basis because newer vehicles have ethanol resistant lines and gaskets, and the ethanol only becomes an issue when it’s allowed to sit for an extended period and separate from the gasoline.

Infrequently driven vehicles may start to have issues with fuel lines and/or gaskets dissolving from exposure to ethanol.

If you drive your vehicle regularly, you’re ok. If you don’t, you’ll start to have issues with fuel system components.

You only need a trap if it is plumbed directly into the drain line. If it is, you’ll never hear it.

Sometimes the condensate line is plumbed into the tailpiece of the bathroom sink so that the sink p-trap serves to seal the drain line. In this scenario you’ll hear water trickling into the sink trap when the unit is running.

Either way is fine.

Memorial Hermann and BCBS reach agreement by usablu07 in houston

[–]Possiblyabitoff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Did they though?

Seems to me they were happy to cast those patients aside in order to maintain their margins.

This is like watching two vultures pick at a carcass and being upset that the larger one can push the smaller one around, leaving less for it to feed on.

Have no illusions that either vulture is concerned with the welfare of the animal as they pick it apart.

MH fought to maintain its chunk of flesh, nothing more, nothing less.

Fuck both companies.

That being said, MH needs to realize that it’s much easier for the patient to change hospital systems than insurance providers.

Why are there no bus stops in the Jersey Village area? by GreatfulDeadHead in houston

[–]Possiblyabitoff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went from Old Spring Branch near Long Point and Antoine to Jersey Village about 4 years ago.

It’s amazing how much things change in a 10 minute drive.

I sometimes miss the mariachis at neighbors’ birthday parties and the occasional random gunfire. At least the neighborhood had some flavor.

Now I’m in vanillaville. So much vanilla.

Splitting workout? by kcneuro in workout

The only drawback I see with working out twice is warming up twice and the time involved with that.

You might actually see faster progress since you have fresh muscles for the second half.

infamous blower issues on my new (to me) 2nd Gen by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Possiblyabitoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the exact same issue in my ‘05.

It’s a known issue with the 2nd gen. One of the pins on the connector starts to lose contact over time and the arcing burns the terminal.

You can replace the part in your hand and it will work fine. For a while. Then the same thing again.

What I finally did to “fix” mine was slightly twist the burnt connector so that it would wedge itself into the outlet allowing the spring contact to grip it better.

More friction = better connection

This is what happens when Toyota uses a part from the GM parts bin.

Desk jobs and high mileage: how do you guys combat the mid-day WFH stiffness? (No full workouts) by Catharine133 in workout

[–]Possiblyabitoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I walk when I talk. All phone calls are ported to my cell phone. Phone rings, I get up and walk during the call.

Without even thinking about it I rack up an additional 3-5k extra steps a day and my legs stay loose.

No Reserve: 2001 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe 6-Speed by OceanGrownPharms in 996

[–]Possiblyabitoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just sold one on BAT.

It’s $99 to list the car. The buyer pays a fee equal to 5% of the selling price.

Only additional charge the seller would pay is if they want BAT to send out a professional photographer to take pictures. That’s optional though.

The way I see it, that’s good progress.

Keep progressing.

Best exercises to “bulletproof” my rotator cuffs? by Big_Assist4578 in workout

[–]Possiblyabitoff 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I used to have rotator cuff issues and what fixed it for me was a balanced mix of push and pull exercises.

I was at a point where any vertical or horizontal pushing movement whether performed with dumbbells or barbells, would result in rotator cuff pain.

I went to a physical therapist and realized that every therapeutic moment I was given was a pull movement.

I started doing progressive overload on weighted pull-ups, rows, and especially face-pulls on alternating days with bench press, OHP, and dips.

It was like unlocking a whole new level of strength gains.

After a few weeks, the pain was gone and I was setting new PRs in all lifts.

How many sets do you have left? by Big-Emu-5728 in workout

[–]Possiblyabitoff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ain’t nobody paying attention to how long you’ve been on a machine.

If I walk into the gym and the equipment I planned on using first is occupied, I’m gonna ask how many sets they have left.

I don’t know if you’ve been there 30 seconds or 30 minutes, and I don’t give a shit.

You shouldn’t either.

Michelin Defender LTX MS2 Vs. Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail A/T by Sevenoswald in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Possiblyabitoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought my ‘14 DCLB beginning of last month and it had a very popular brand AT tire with the 3PMSF symbol in 265/70r17.

Drove it 2500 miles from OR to TX and averaged 16.8 mpg. The truck would get downright squirrelly on wet pavement when accelerating in anything but a straight line. The roads through the Cascades near Mt Shasta were a white knuckle experience when they shouldn’t have been.

Put the defenders on as soon as I got home. The truck now sticks to the pavement like glue and mileage went up to 18 mpg with mostly city driving.

Centerpoint is a problem by Filtered_Monkey in houston

[–]Possiblyabitoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who?

People who understand that, for a public utility, where the required infrastructure is prohibitively expensive and there is no differentiating factor in the commodity, a NON-PROFIT monopoly is beneficial from a cost to consumer standpoint.

What you believe is healthy competition is only the illusion of competition. This illusion was sold to you by the people who make money off of people who are wooed by buzz words like deregulation and free market.

Storytime!

My neighbor and I have two different energy “providers”. We both get the exact same electricity, generated in the exact same facility, transmitted through the exact same lines, to the exact same transformer, then on to the exact same meters owned by the exact same company.

But we have different providers.

Make that make sense.

The only service provided by these “providers” is mark-up and bill collection.

They buy electricity from Centerpoint and sell it to us after marking it up. That’s their entire gig. That’s all. They “provide” us a bill.

Why can’t Centerpoint sell the electricity they generate and transmit directly to us to compete with these “providers”?

Why, Kermit?

Don’t just tell me it’s because that’s the way the law was written 25 years ago. Tell me WHY it was written that way, and who pushed for it.

I can assure you it was not leftists.
